It wasn't very often I regretted my choice to move.
For the most part, I loved living in New York City. I adored the busyness of the streets, with various voices chattering in the air and the vendors selling their wares. There was something comforting in knowing I could disappear with the blink of an eye and no one would notice. We were all anonymous under the sprawling skyscrapers of this city.
And while I regretted the move when I was being rejected from another job opportunity or when I was screaming at my roommates for their unnecessary bullshit, I could never deny that New York was my home. It was the place I belonged.
I can only wonder whether I would be facing the same certain death back home in Texas as I am now, held in the clutches by the monster above me with red eyes full of violent joy. I guess it's just my luck.
