* ALARM GOING OFF*

"Aurora!!"

"RORI!!! GET UP!!"

I groaned, pulling the cover over my head to escape the screaming man. He pulled at the satin sheets pulling them just enough to slide over my eyes causing me to slightly open one. "UGHHH! APPA GO AWAY," I yelled, hearing a chuckle from the opposite end of the bed.

"We are gonna miss our flight." He said in a frustrated tone, causing the sudden realization to jolt me upright.

Moving the black sweat-drenched curls from over my eyes, I looked over at the clock on my beside me before looking up at the tall man. I saw him flash a smile when I cocked my head and groaned at the big blue numbers.

-3:02 AM-

"Get up Aurora. We have to be at the airport by five to make our flight, that is unless you want to stay in LA for another couple of weeks until everything is settled...."

"NO" I interrupted, causing him to let out a burst of laughter.

"Well, I guess it is nice to know you miss home." He chuckled, sweeping his gray hair from over his eyes. I glared at the elder man, mocking his words as I slid from underneath the duvet, making my way over the edge of the bed.

"I'll be out in a minute." I sternly said, listening to him chuckle once more before turning on his heel and making his way to the door. I scrambled to take a shower and do my morning routine, ransacking my temporary closet and pulling out my airport sweats and matching beanie. Finding my favorite pair of Nike tennis shoes, I grabbed the coordinating Gucci purse and suitcase, sat across the room, and headed out the door. Walking down the stairs and into the elevator bank, I saw Nigel walking with his suitcase down the adjoining hall while on the phone.

"Give me one moment honey." He said sweetly before taking the phone from his ear just before he reached me.

"Good Morning, Dr. Chen," Nigel said, bowing to me as he came to a halt.

"Nye, for the last time, you've known me since before I had my first college degree. Why can't you just call me Rori? I consider you my second father and it hurts that you don't feel comfortable enough to call me by name." I said laughing, returning his courteous bow. He walked closer to me, kissing me on the forehead and taking the handle of the suitcase from my hands.

"It's great to hear that, but even though I care for you deeply you are still my boss and I will address you as such, " he said, giving a wide smile and placing his arm around my shoulder to turn us to the elevator. He pressed the button calling the elevator before he turned back around to face me. "Also Happy Birthday, Dr. Chen," He grinned once more.

"Thank you, Nye."

Just as I pulled him in for a quick side hug my dad came around the corner practically screaming into the phone. "Juhn-ni, your sister has enough on her plate right now, she cannot manage any more projects in the immediate future, particularly with the important one she is working on. I need you to complete it and have the paperwork as well as the archetype on my desk Monday morning! We will be arriving in Seoul in the morning and then we can sit down and handle your matters. Okay?" He irritatedly grunted into the phone.

I heard a very deep and agitated voice on the other line clear their throat just as words finally broke through the seconds of awkward silence. "Okay, Father I will get it done. See you and Rori tonight or tomorrow morning. Oh! Could you tell her I said Happy Birthday?" Juhn- ni asked on the other end before my father nodded and three beeps sounded signifying the end of the call.

My father stood stunned only a few feet away, but after a few seconds walked over to me and hugged me. "Happy Birthday, my beautiful daughter. I've been so preoccupied I completely forgot," He solemnly said, letting his shoulders fall in disappointment.
