"I hate this!" I shouted "Why did we even have to move in the first place?!?" "Because, honey, your father and I thought it was getting cramped up in out old apartment," My mom said, "But look on the bright side, you can meet new people, new friends, and you even get your own room!" Ugh, she's always thinking on the bright side of things. "I know that I get my own room, remember? That's the only reason I agreed to get in the car!" My mom sighed. She doesn't seem to like it when I do that. Oh well.
"And i'm gonna go to second grade soon!" that was my little sister, Destiny, who, I guess, inherited the "look on the bright side of things" thing from my mom. Also, there's my 10-year-old brother, Max, who is normally loud and annoying, but right now he was silenced by his PSP. That's the only reason he ever gets quiet. But anyways, lets get out of my thoughts and back to reality.
We stop at a White Castle, and I heard Destiny muttering something about the purple one comes first, and the green one comes last and is the first to go. But it's just nonsense, and I know that because she talks nonsense all the time. Like the one time where she said that there was a giant flying bird thing in the sky, but there was nothing. Not a plane, not a bird, and not even a butterfly.
Well, we finally got to our new (or should I call it old?) house. It took us a while, since we got lost, but we found it. The first thing I did was, well, nothing. I disliked the house so much that I just stayed in the car, texting my old friends for a few hours.
But, facing the terrible truth, I realized that I couldn't stay in the car forever. I walk inside, and I almost puke. It smelled like a wet dog rolled around in a moldy litterbox, and then wrapped in old people's clothes. Yeah, it smells that bad.
"Mom!" I shout "Why dosh it shmell sho bad?" There was no response. "Mom!" Still no answer. "MOM!!!" I yell at the top of my lungs. Finally there is a faint "What?" coming from outside. I navigate the house and find the back door. I open it and there she is, sitting on a chair on the patio, watching my little brother and sister in the yard.
"What is it honey?" She asked "Oh nothing really," I said "I was just wondering why the house smelled so terrible." "Your father is in the basement trying to figure that out right now, he thinks it's the air conditioner." And she was right, because just then my dad slipped through the still open door and said: "I got it! There was some mold in the air conditioner, and now that I sprayed some Febreeze, it smells much nicer."
I walked right past him into the house, picked a bedrom I liked, and looked in the mirror. What I saw was the average me. The average 14-year-old Gwen Sellar. Messy chesnut hair, Dark purple eyes, and pale skin. I lay down on the bed, listen to some music, which seems to calm my soul, and let the waves of the dream world wash over me like the waves on a beach.
