Chapter 3

I woke up the next morning in a sweat. I had had a nightmare but I couldn't remember it.

'Oh well,' I thought. 'It will come back to me soon.' I looked around at the room. At first I was confused, then I remembered where I was. The room had red walls and a light blue roof, the same colour in the common room. The floor was a deep sea blue like the walls of the common room as well. There was a chair opposite the double bed where I was lying and a bookcase to my right and a chest by the doorway to my left. I thought it was beautiful. I yawned and got out of bed. I went to the chest and opened it to find a white skirt, a black top, black anklet socks and school shoes along with underwear. I sighed, it seemed like the only clothing I had so I took the clothes out and started getting dressed.

10 minutes later, just as I had finished tying my shoes, there was a knock at the door.

"Can I come in?" Came Indigo's voice.

"Sure." I said. Indigo opened the door and stepped in. She was wearing what she wore the first time I saw her, before she got changed yesterday.

"You look nice. What you're wearing now is your school uniform. We have to wear it until period five and then we can get changed into our casual clothing. Our chests provide our clothes, some say it's magic." She smiled. "You slept in so you missed breakfast, you were sleeping so peacefully, Pixie and I thought we wouldn't wake you up." I nodded and grabbed a bag that was sitting on my chair.

"Can you tell me what I have today? I seriously don't get the timetable." I looked at my timetable with confusion.

"You have science in room 102, latin in 105, maths in 110, history in 104 and your final class of the day is water elemental training. You'll be with Pixie so don't worry for the training." She looked up at me. "I'll walk you to your first class. Come on." She beckoned me to follow.

We walked to room 102 in silence. Once we reached there, Indigo knocked on the door and a faint "come in" could be heard. Indigo gestured for me to go in so I opened the door and stepped inside.

The room was like a normal classroom, there were rows of desks and a blackboard on the wall. There was only one other person inside, I figure this was Kourtney Nadene.

"Hello, you must be Miss Waverly. I'm Kourtney Nadene, your teacher."

"Hello Miss." I said politely.

The young girl laughed. "Just call me Kourtney. All students call their teachers by their first elder name." The young woman was blonde and her eyes had a intelligent spark to them. She actually looked a bit like Pixie. Then I realised all the students either had white blonde, blonde, brown or red hair. 'It must be something to do with what element they control.' I thought to myself. "Miss Indigo, you may leave." Indigo nodded and left, waving goodbye to me as she closed the door.

"The first period is science right?" I blurted out.

"Yes. It is. Do you enjoy it?" Kourtney asked.

"No not really. I'm not very good at it." I told her.

"Ok. What subjects do you enjoy?"

"I enjoy history." I said and Kourtney nodded. "It fascinates me. I'm also good at maths and english."

"Ok. Anything else?" Kourtney seemed so nice. I guess I'm lucky to have her as a teacher for all my subjects.

"Umm... I've been trying to learn how to write runes but I'm having no luck with it."

"Don't worry. It's good that you enjoy those things. Tell you what, come to this room 10 minutes after dinner. I'll give you some tutoring to help you catch up and see if we can get you interested in the subjects you don't like." She grinned. "You can sit here." She gestured to a seat at the front. "I'll help you as best I can. The class should begin in five minutes so you can just sit down. Do you have your textbooks?" I nodded. "Good." The teacher went back to her desk.
