“If you can cook like this, I’ll marry you right now,” Greg said as he shoved a piece of enchilada in his mouth.

“Bre is great cook!” My mom said as she patted my hand. She actually thought I’d MARRY him. So far, Gregory the lawyer, had insulted me, hit on my cousin, made fun of my shoes, told me if I ate too much I’d get fatter, hit on my AUNT, and HATES any kind of competitive sport, especially football and basketball. This guy is SO wrong for me.

“Nope. I suck,” I reply. My mom frowns.

“Don’t listen to her,” my mom said as she gave me a look that said, ‘shut up Bre, you’re being a pain in the ass’.

“She’s a great baker too! You should taste her cupcakes,” Maricruz said.

“Nope. Not true,” I said as I shook my head.

“She made the tiramisu we’re having for dessert,” Luke said. I glared at him.

“Tiramisu? I love tiramisu,” Gregory the lawyer said as he looked over to me with a goofy look on his face and some sauce on the side of his lip.

“It’s store bought,” I said.

“She’s so modest,” Luke said.

“Well bring it out. My momma always said, the way to a man’s heart is through his belly,” Gregory the lawyer said as he wriggled his eyebrows.

“I take it a few people have tried that approach,” I mumbled unable to contain myself. My mom glared at me, and Maricruz kicked me.

“Ow!” I said as I rubbed my chin.

“You truly are an amazing woman,” Gregory the lawyer said.

“Nope. I’m a bitch,” I quickly said.

“Bre! Language,” Maricruz said.

“See,” I said.

“Here’s some of Bre’s delicious tiramisu,” my mom said as she placed a plate in front of Gregory. He quickly dove in, without a fork.

“This is the best damn tiramisu I’ve ever tried,” Gregory the lawyer said.

“Liar,” I said.

“Bre, the man just complimented you,” my mom said.

“Yeah, after he insulted me,” I said.

“Bre, a word please,” Maricruz said. I sighed and followed Mari into the bathroom.

“What is your problem?” Mari said as soon as she closed the door.

“What? The guy is a jerk,” I said.

“He’s also one of Derek’s bosses.”

“What? I thought he had just started working at the firm.”

“He did, because he was in vacation traveling the WORLD.”

“More like eating it.”

“Bre! If Derek doesn’t get on his good side, then he might get fired. They need to save money so they’re talking about laying some people off and cutting back on hours and shit, and Bre we have TWINS.”

“Then why don’t you get a job?”

“I have a job! I’m a stay at home mother AND wife.”

“You have a nanny.”

“Bre! That’s not the point. The point is, you need to get in bed with Greg.”

“Eiwww!”
