Castiel always sat on the bus alone. He didn't socialize like everyone else did. He just hid in his seat. He just stared out the window and played little games. He liked to find letters in the signs and license plates in the order of the alphabet.
There was one more stop on the way to school and Castiel was trying to find the letter W. He found it in an unexpected way.
On the last stop, someone sat next to him. Normally, someone would just shrug it off. That happens.
Not Castiel.
He quickly turned to face the stranger. He had hair which seemed to be a flurry of light brown and blonde. He had freckles which weren't too light but weren't too dark. They were just right.
His eyes were green. No, not just green. Something more than such a simple word. Extravagantly, beautifully, enthralling emerald. Summer's grass coated in morning dew, the sunlight reflecting off the blades in a way that mesmerized the young Novak. Only one word could come close to summing up the beauty in these too-green-for-it-to-be-green eyes.
Perfect.
"Who are you?" Castiel asked softly.
"I'm Dean. I'm new here. And you are?"
His voice. So kind. Such a lovely sound. It reminded him of honey because it sounded so sweet. It seemed to put him in a trance. He never knew someone could be this... beautiful.
"Uh... Castiel. Why would you sit here? No one ever sits next to me. Even the new kids hate me at first glance."
"Well, there's nowhere else to sit." Castiel looked around. It was true, all the other seats were filled. There were a few seats with three people. It didn't surprise him. People would rather be cramped than sit next to the freak.
"Oh." Was all he could say. Dean clearly found this humorous, because he chuckled.
There were no words to describe his smile. Well, maybe two. "Wow" and "Omg".
"What's your first class?" Dean asked suddenly.
"Uh... science with Mr. Devereux."
"Sweet. Me too."
Castiel wasn't sure what he was doing. Why hasn't he told him to stop talking yet? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the sound of Dean's voice was so beautiful that it made Castiel want to kiss him.
Wait... what?
"I could show you around the school. I'd need to check in with Mr. Devereux." What am I doing? He mentally scolded himself.
"Sure, why not?" Dean smiled again, sending a chill down Castiel's spine. A good chill. The best chill one could get.
But he couldn't be friends with this Dean. He couldn't. He didn't want friends.
Because he knew what would happen to them.
