Chapter 16.
Tears ran down the beautiful woman's face as she sat atop her throne. The empty throne room filled her mind and thoughts with dread. She feared for her life. Her future. The uncertainty of what would and would not be was too much she could not comprehend.
Her plans kept failing.
Just this morning her loyal informant had arrived with news that broke her heart beyond repairs.
A sudden change in the atmosphere caught her eyes and when she looked up from her throne, he stood there. Glaring at her with that annoying calm expression.
Does he not see that they fail in every way possible?
How is he so calm when the winds of failure blow at them from all angles?
“Sister!” his voice filled the air.
“Tell me, cousin,” the Queen spoke softly. “Am I destined to fail?” her eyes wet with bitter tears.
“I told you, again and again, you have nothing to fear!”
“How so?!” she cried.
“I have it all under control!”
“You have nothing under control. Damon still lives and even worse he found his way home!” she yelled.
This provoked the other man as his eyes changed colors. Turning the silvers into burning reds.
“Impossible!” he roared and the earth shook.
“We are failing, Gaad.” the Queen’s voice returned to it calmness once again. “We will fail!” she whispered.
“I shall see to this myself!” Gaad vanished in a cloud of smokes.
The Queen sat slumped on her throne. It was evident she has lost hopes.
“Xrysos won. He found the boy and he has a son.” she looked up in time to see Athesmos standing before her. “That boy stole my life! He took everything away from me!”
“You should pay your spy to kill him. He has been giving you news on what happens within the Gates for years now and yet no one suspects him. I suggest you pay him to have the boy assassinated.”
The Queen smiled. “Brilliant idea, Athesmos!” she laughed. “I will do just that!”
Athesmos bowed and exits the room, leaving the Queen to decide on how to deal with this matter.

“I can not believe that until now Xrysos still wins over you!” Vin the gossip spoke.
“He has not won. He only happens to be ahead of me, but I will conquer the Gates and when that happens, I shall feed his entire household to the lions!” Athesmos rage was evident in his voice as he yelled his anger.
“Where do you wish to go today?” Vin asked.
“I need to visit an old friend!” Athesmos replied as he sat on his horse.
