When we entered the next room, my assumption had been right. Pidge sat in a caged, two doors were the only exits I could see. One was right in front of us, the other seemed to lead down a dark tunnel. I had a feeling none of us wanted to find out what was beyond it. "Pidge!" Shiro called out, running up to the cage. The green paladins eyes snapped up to us, "Shiro! You're okay! And (Y/N, Kiren? What are you both doing here?" Walked over to the cage, placing a hand on Pidge's shoulder, "Coran told us you guys got caught, we came down here to help and got caught up in the twist games and mu little sister."
Pidge looked confused, I shook my head, "I'll explain later. Right now..." On cue, my sister's image appear once more, "Welcome to the second task!" She cheered, "Here, you must find the key before the second gate opens! Or you will have to watch as your little friend will be torn apart by my babies!" I gulped, if they were the same creatures I remembered, Pidge wouldn't stand a chance. "Brother, you aren't allowed to use your powers on the paladin, and your friend isn't allowed to shift into anything that can break the door." I could see the fear in Pidge's face as my sister disappeared. The green paladin turned to me, "What's going on?!"
I looked at Shiro and Kiren, "Start looking. We don't have time to waste." They nodded, beginning to look around the room, "Listen, Pidge. Everything is going to be fine. Just stay calm and trust me." She shakily nodded. I forced myself to smile. "(Y/N)! Over here." I turned around, seeing Kiren waving at me. "What did you find?" Shiro was crouched by a small box, the same langue that had been written on the pillar earlier. " 'The sins of those you left behind... are what you need to find... The youngest sin will give you the key..."
The moment the words left my lips I heard the creaking of the second metal gate could be heard. "Ah... guys..." Pidge sounded panicked. I could tell the Shiro and Kiren were starting to as well. "What the hell does it mean by the 'youngest sin'?! What do sins have to do with anything right now?!" While the older male panicked, I tried to think of what it could mean... The sins... My eyes went wide of I came to a realizations. I took a deep breath. "UH! WHATEVER YOU GUYS ARE DOING HURRY UP!! I DON'T REALLY WANT TO DIE!!" The three of us looked back, seeing the gate almost entirely open. My eyes went wide as I turn back to the box, "Pride!"
It opened, a small key inside. Pulling it from the soft fabric of the interior of the box, I raced back to the cage. Opening the door just as the gate opened, and the loud growls and fast paced footsteps of the creature that were beyond it. As I saw their faces I grabbed Pidge's are and pulled the young girl outside, slamming the door closed and locking it back up. The familiar creature bashed their large, skeletal bodies against the cage, trying to break out as they clawed at the air between me and them. I backed up, make sure Pidge stayed behind me. Adrenaline still coursing through my veins. "W-What are those thing?" Pidge asked, her voice shaky.
"Laiven... My sister's hounds... I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see them..." I turned to the other two, how had been frozen with panic as they watch what had unfolded before them. "Pidge! Are you okay?" Shiro asked. The girl nodded, not leave my side. Her eyes watching the creatures still trapped in the cage, the creature that were almost her end. "Well done brother dearest! You have saved two! But... will you manage to get to red in time I wonder." I started grinding my teeth together, "Why Ava!? Why are you doing this?!" I heard her laugh, as another door appeared by the place where the box had been. "Off to your next friend in need of saving... Good luck... oh and there will be a few small tasks along the way."
"Let's keep moving, we still have Hunk, Lance and Keith to find." They all nodded, except Pidge. The green paladin still in a state of shock. Seeing this Shiro knelt down in front of her, allowing the young girl to climb on to his back. Once Shiro had Pidge secured, we continued. We walked in silence until we came across another door, Yellow and orange in colour. One that had writing on the front and two items on a two separate stands. One was a bloody knife, one that I remembered from long ago. One that I had used in a training exercise while with my father. The other was burnt book, one that seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. "What does the door say?" Kiren's voice was serious, and dull. Now knowing the true dangers of Ava's games.
"Symbols of Sins... One a bringer of pain, another... the dreams of a child." We both turned back to the items left in the room. Looking at the knife, I knew already which sin it represented, the book on the other hand. I approached it. Picking it up gently, running my hand over the burnt surface. Written in gold on the front was it's title, 'Coming home'... my eye grew teary... I now knew who this was for. "The pain of Gluttony... The dreams of Envy..." The door slowly creaked open. I took the book, putting it into the shadow, along with the knife as the others all looked at me confused.
"How do you know the answers to all these question (Y/N)?" Shiro asked softly. I wiped my eyes, "Because this entire games is designed for me... to remind me..." I turned to the now open door with determination and sadness, "About those I left behind..."
