The Trial

~In the Courthouse~

*No One's POV*

"So I was in the basement of a courthouse this whole time?" Eren realized.

An MP jammed a musket barrel into Eren's back.

"Move it criminal!" the MP shouted.

"Lance Corporal Hoover, why do you insist on standing equal to the accused? Darius asked.

"Because I'm here to defend him. I'm no better than he is. We are equals." Bertholdt said.

"Th-Thank you Heichou." Eren stammered.

"Please Eren. Don't call me that for now. Like I said, we're equals." Bertholdt urged.

"On your knees scum!" The MP yelled.

"And your personal squad are also adamant with standing equal to Mr. Yeager?" Darius continued.

"Yes." Bertholdt replied.

"Th-The squad too? Does that include Ymi?" Eren asked hopefully.

"She's still with the Cadets. You'll see her soon enough." Bertholdt reassured him.

The MP hit Eren in the back with the stock of the rifle.

"I said on your knees!" He yelled again.

Eren got on his knees an the MP chained him to the metal post in the middle of the courtroom.

"Is all this really necessary Hei- Bertholdt?" Eren asked.

"I'm afraid so." Bertholdt admitted.

"Alright, let it be recorded that court session began on Sunday, 7:45 in the morning! Cadet Eren Yeager, you are an enlisted member of the armed forces, and swore an oath to fight for humanity. Since you are a soldier being investigated during a time of war, this hearing shall be held as a Court Martial. Do you have any objection to this?" Darius began.

"N-No Sir." Eren said.

"Your astuteness is much appreciated. Eren Yeager, do you believe that you can control your Titan ability to use it for the benefit of Humanity?" Darius asked.

"I...I believe so Sir." Eren replied.

"Oh? But the reports from the battle of Trost contradict that statement." Darius said.

"H-How Sir? I moved the boulder like I was supposed to." Eren asked.

"Reports say that shortly after transforming, you attempted to crush two Cadets. Mikasa Ackerman, and another only known as Ymir. Miss Ackerman was able to be here, but Ymir was not due to nursing a broken arm and shattered ankle from your relentless attack." Darius explained.

"I...I hurt my fiance..." Eren said as he began to tear up.

"Your fiance?" Darius asked.

"See, he'll try to kill us all if he gets the chance!" the merchant yelled.

"Y-Yes Sir...I got Corporal Hoover to ask her for me since I was busy with the mission and she said yes..." Eren explained.

"Eren hasn't killed anyone while in Titan form you insufferable old fool!" Mikasa yelled back at the merchant.

"Ackerman hold your tongue! Your smart ass remark may very well get Eren killed!" Bertholdt scolded.

"Yes Heichou..." Mikasa agreed.

"Miss Ackerman, did Eren Yeager attempt to crush you in Titan form?" Darius asked Mikasa.

".....Yes Sir." Mikasa admitted.
