"coffee, black," a customer said, his tone dull.

it had been a slower day for the coffeehouse, an event happening down the street with a new cafe opening up that friday pulling a lot of their normal crowd towards their grand opening. izuku wasn't one to complain though. he sort of liked the slow day, giving him enough time to familiarize himself with the menu and stare out the window and observe the people passing and cars zooming by.

"of course, sir," izuku replied with a bright smile. he relayed the total, took the money the customer gave him, and counted out the change. izuku stared for a moment; the customer had wild, deep purple hair, matching eyes, and a deep set of undereye circles that made him look about five years older than izuku would assume he was. "can i get a name?"

"shinsou," he said, purple eyes trained on the coffeehouse employee.

"shinsou...," izuku mouthed, writing on the cup with a sharpie. "perfect, we'll call it out when it's ready."

the customer nodded. "thanks. you new here?"

izuku nodded. "just started a week ago. you've been in a couple times, right? i remember seeing you during training." it helped shinsou had a not-so-complicated order, and it had been one of izuku's first to ever make at the establishment.

"yeah, i work across the street," shinsou threw a thumb over his shoulder in the direction of a tall, glass building.

"oh, what do you do?" izuku asked, looking over at the building.

the customer shrugged. "i work as a software engineer for a company overseas."

the nineteen year old's eyes widened. "that's so cool! do you enjoy it?"

"kind of boring, but it pays the bills so i can't complain much," he said. "can't beat working at a coffee shop, though."

izuku laughed. "i don't know about that. working as a software engineer sounds pretty nice."

"i can tell you this smells better," shinsou replied. "i'd much rather be surrounded by the smell of coffee all day than sweat."

"i guess that's true," the boy said with a smile. "oh," his coworker handed him shinsou's coffee. "and here you go. hope it's a good day at work! feel free to escape and enjoy the coffee aroma whenever you'd like."

"thanks," shinsou said, a smile teasing the corner of his lips.

izuku watched him walk out the door and sighed to himself, his mind wandering for the umpteenth time that day.

he'd woken up in bakugou's arms just a week ago. how they'd gotten into that situation, izuku wasn't too sure. he remembered falling asleep halfway through the movie, and the next he knew, he was surrounded by warmth. he'd avoided him since, scrambling from the couch before the blond could even wake up to see the predicament the two had even gotten themselves into. luckily, no one had wandered into the living room to see them, either, so it was izuku and izuku alone living with the fact that he and bakugou had technically slept together. but, what he hated the most, was how comfortable and safe he'd felt when he'd woken up.

"are you okay, midoriya-kun?" a hand touched his shoulder.

izuku jumped. "oh, yaomomo-san. sorry, just spacing out, i guess."

"i bet. i was calling your name for a good minute," the girl laughed. "good work today, you're definitely a quick learner. you can clock out and go home if you'd like."

"okay, yeah, thank you," he replied. "see you on sunday."

"see you then," yaomomo smiled.

izuku took off his apron and changed into his casual clothes, waving to his coworkers on his way out.
