She smacked my head with a wide tooth comb.

"Ow, grandma!"

"Yuh cyaa chat to mi like dat now. Mi wud beat yuh up eff mi had di energy, but no more cursing." She slathered grease onto my scalp, "Now wah mi sey?"

"You said to never curse and act like a lady. Speak soft, but with poise. Stand straight, smile, be supple." I pouted as I watched my favorite movie Phat Girls.

Feeling the tips of her fingers braid a cornrow into my hair, she sighed out of concern, "Please promise mi to behave an memba all di things mi sey to yuh."

"I will, grandma."

"I love you, Heather. Please keep yourself safe and guarded. I'd probably turn in my grave if you were in deep trouble."

I laughed, "No, ma. Never that. I'll be a great person, I promise."

"Alright. Now, watch the movie and let me finish your hair."

I patted liquid foundation onto my bruise from last night.

I winced at the pain that stung my arm. He was too freaking aggressive! No man should handle a woman that way, it's disrespectful.

Absurd. I scoffed as I flipped my curly hair over my shoulders. Taking out a thing of honey gloss, I leaned over to the mirror and applied the gloss on my lips. My eyes looked up at the clock and I hissed.

I'm late.

I got my hair tie and gloss. Leaving the bathroom, I went to get my phone and purse, as well as my faux fur coat. I had a bag packed up with formal clothes for tonight because Yari asked me to go to the club with her.

I made sure I had everything I needed and left. I did my normal which was haul down a taxi and went on my way to work.

My attention went out the window and saw a man getting mugged. I rolled my eyes. Why so early in the morning?

I texted back a few people in my messages and checked some of my emails. I had to make sure my modeling event was coming together for the fall. I was ecstatic about pulling this off because modeling is my dream.

I got out the car and said thank you to the driver. I kissed my teeth as I sauntered inside of the hotel.

"Good morning, Sugar." People greeted me and I smiled and wave back at them.

Just smile and wave, girl. Smile and wave. Because later on today, you won't be smiling.

"Good morning, Sugar." Marion said as he slid over for me to clock in.

"Good morning, Marion. How has it been so far this morning? Anything I have to worry about?"

He looked at his notes, "So far there has been no complaints or rude guests. There is a major wreck up in room 624 because there was a party. I hope Rachel-"

"A party? At the Park Hyatt?"

"Yes, apparently we aren't supposed to be involved in shutting that down. Not sure why, but I'm not putting my two cents in." He laughed causing me to nudge him.

"Mhm, what else?"

"Oh... That's weird."

"What is?" I tried to look over his shoulder while standing on my tippy toes.

"Nobody has ever requested a specific maid to clean their hotel room."

"Ooh, they must be really good!" I nodded, "But who is it?"
