New Story! This is my first time publishing something that isn't a one-shot, so I wanted to start with something small before taking a bigger leap and maybe writing a full story? Let me know what you think! It's set after the PJO series as if HoO never happened. Percabeth is, of course, dating at this time.
Annabeth Chase knocked on the hardwood door of the Jackson/Blofis home, ready to say her final goodbyes before heading to San Francisco for two full weeks. Her dad had willingly invited her over for the holidays, and Annabeth was ecstatic to be - at least slightly - included in her family's celebrations.
Her plane left in four hours, so she had decided to come and say her final goodbyes before heading to the airport.
She heard the muffled footsteps coming from the other side of the door, and the face of Sally Jackson - no, Blofis - greeted her. "Annabeth, sweetheart, what a wonderful surprise! I thought you were leaving today for two weeks?"
"My plane goes in four hours, so I thought I would come to say goodbye."
"Well, you're always welcome here. Come in, you must be freezing!" It was true, the New York air was bitter cold and the snow was showing no mercy, falling and covering everything with a thick blanket of white.
Annabeth's taxi had barely made it there, the roads were so icy. The whole ride she had been clutching into the side of her seat.
Sally turned around and called for Percy, who was apparently in his room. Sure enough, a few seconds later, Percy himself came down the stairs and towards her. "Annabeth?" he asked, coming over to hug her. She smiled, she had to admit she loved the feeling of his arms around her. Now that he was a head taller than her, she could perfectly rest her head on his chest as he held her close.
After a minute, he pulled away to look at her, arms still on her waist. Without a word, he placed a hand on her cheek and gently kissed her. Annabeth couldn't deny the butterflies that fluttered around in her stomach. It was a soft kiss, conveying so much emotion.
In the corner of her mind, she heard Sally chuckle and walk back towards the living room. Annabeth had completely forgotten Percy's mother was watching. Blushing, she pulled away from her boyfriend, laughing at his pout.
Since the Titan War had finished, Annabeth and Percy had been officially dating. After returning home from camp, they were forced to return for their junior year of school, Annabeth at her Girls Boarding school and Percy at Goode High, where Paul works. They had been going strong even with the distance, and it made the moments like this - where they got to see each other again - even more special.
Percy entwined their hands with a big smile on his face and lead her to the living room, where Sally and Paul were sitting on the main couch. "Hey, Annabeth! It's nice to see you again. I'm sure Percy feels the same way." Paul said, smiling as he had obviously heard about the greeting Percy and Annabeth had shared from Sally. There was no way Annabeth could get redder.
Percy scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "We'll be in my room," he said, already heading to the stairs.
"Door open!" Sally exclaimed, laughing at them. She knew the two teens wouldn't do anything, that was purely to embarrass them further.
When the young couple reached Percy's room, he dramatically flopped onto the bed, pulling Annabeth with him. She laughed, cuddling up next to him and sighed in peace.
"What am I going to do with you gone for two whole weeks?" Percy asked, pulling her closer protectively. Annabeth truly had no idea, she was trying to find the answer herself. But this opportunity, the fact that her Dad had reached out to her, that was a once time chance.
"It's only two weeks, I'll be back before you even know it," she said, sitting up and turning so she could look him in the eyes. "I'll miss you, Percy."
"I'll miss you too," he said, leaning in and brushing his lips against hers lightly. They sat there for a while, just kissing, talking and laughing together, till a light knock on the already open door interrupted them.
Sally appeared, smiling at the two of them lying together sweetly. "Annabeth, you might want to get going now, you have three hours till your flight."
"Thanks, Sally," she said, using the older woman's first name (she had been told countless times not to call her Mrs. Blofis). Sally left as Annabeth stood up, helping Percy stand too.
"Goodbye, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth kissed him one last time before walking out of the room.
"Oh, Annabeth. Come look at the news, it's no good!" worriedly, Annabeth paused near the TV.
The blizzard that covers all of New York and many of the surrounding states are leaving many people stuck in the airport. All flights have been canceled and rescheduled to after Christmas when the snow has died down. We would like to apologise on behalf of the airport for the inconvenience. Weather specialists have strongly suggested not leaving current places for at least a week, before roads open again. Have a safe and happy holiday.
No. Annabeth refused to believe this. All flights canceled? The one time she is happy to go see her family and she's stuck in New York? Annabeth stood, frozen, staring at the TV. She could feel everyone's eyes on her. She couldn't leave where she was? It was bad enough she couldn't go see her family instead she was going to ruin all of her boyfriend's family's plans.
Sally exhaled slowly. "Annabeth, I know it doesn't sound like a lot of fun now, but we would be happy to let you stay here until after Christmas. When the snow clears up a bit more we can go pick up your things from your dorm. It's really no trouble." Sally suggested, trying to help her.
Annabeth knew Sally was just being nice. Who wanted a guest over for Christmas?
"Don't worry about me, Sally, I'll just go back to my dorm till I can find a flight. It's only a few blocks away and I'm sure there will be a couple of other girls with the same problem. You guys enjoy your holidays. Bye Percy," she pecked him on the lips and walked out the front door. She shivered already from the cold.
What a great holiday this was going to be.
Chapter one is complete. The five other chapters are already uploaded, since I have already written the whole thing. Check them out and let me know what you think with a comment or vote!
