Divine Joseon Warriors.

Seventeen

Yeon Joo had been living in Sogyeokseo for a week, even though Eun Soo had explained all the rules to her Yeon Joo hardly followed them. Nobody bothered her because they thought she was bad luck so she spent her days inside her room reading books on the supernatural.   She'd already found a way to heal princess Eun Soo but she needed to go into the mountains to get a special charm, the charm was said to be guarded by a mountain Sprite.  Since the only rule she had to follow was remaining in Sogyeokseo unless summoned, there was no way for her to get the flower so she didn't bother to tell the princess anything.

“Yeon Joo, wake up”
  Yeon Joo and the princess had turned out their lamp and gone to bed but Yeon Joo had been woken up by the same voice that had been calling her for the past three days. She knew it was a ghost and she'd ignored it every time.

“Yah! Yeon Joo come on wake up, you know I'll never stop calling you until you do” the ghost said. Yeon Joo sat up and glared at the ghost.
  “What do you want from me?” Yeon Joo whispered furiously, the ghost signalled for her to follow him and then he left the room.
  Yeon Joo carefully got out of bed and snuck out of the room, Eun Soo was a light sleeper so she could've woken up at any moment.

“What is this about?”
  “I can't talk, just follow me” the ghost said and walked away. 
  “Are you kidding me? I need to sleep!”  she said and followed the ghost. He walked to the back of Sogyeokseo,it was an old and unattended garden.  Yeon Joo watched the ghost disappear behind a thorny hedge and she frowned, did he really expect her to go through those thorns?

She pushed her way through the thorns and followed him down some stairs. The stairs led to a dark tunnel and Yeon Joo had to keep close to the wall so she could walk carefully without tripping.
  “Yah, where are you taking me to?” she asked him. The ghost didn't answer her and kept walking, soon Yeon Joo could see a circle of light and a rope hanging from above.  She walked towards the light and looked up, the source of light was the moon.

“This used to be a well but it dried up after the Queen died and the king had it turned into a tunnel that led to the Queen's garden, I'll meet you at the top” the ghost said and disappeared.  Yeon Joo hissed and grabbed the rope, she used it to slowly climb to the top and out of the well.

Yong jae lay in bed beside a sleeping Yeona staring up at the ceiling. He liked Yeona, she had an entertaining personality but he couldn't stop thinking about Yeon Joo. She wasn't just a beautiful woman but a beautiful person with a beautiful soul.  She was the one he'd wanted as a concubine but thanks to his father, the poor girl had been sent to Sogyeokseo and she probably hated him for it. He'd wanted to see her but had been afraid that she wouldn't want to see him.  Yong jae closed his eyes and was about to sleep when there was a knock at the door, it was a court maid. “Your highness, the Queen wishes to meet you, she requires to your presence by the old well in the palace gardens” the court maid said and left.

Yong jae wondered why his mother would want to meet him in the garden so late at night. He got up and got dressed and left the room.
When he got to the garden,he discovered that he was all alone.
“Mother, are you there? Why did you summon me to the gardens so late at night?” he whispered into the night but the only response he got was soft grunting sounds coming from the old well.
