Arthur
Arthur and Treenie (who was still possessing his dog Pal) were both sitting on Arthur's bed during the middle of the night after a long day of going to that puppet play and Arthur doing unimportant stuff to avoid D.W.'s suspicion.
During that long period of time his thoughts were growing around one question he had. And now...he is able to ask it.
Arthur: Is it true the you are Vicita's imaginary friend?
Treenie answered with a single nod.
Arthur: You must really miss her.
Treenie lied down as she looked up at Arthur with sad Pal's eyes.
Arthur: Don't worry. I will help you, and everybody in that place.
D.W: You're doing it again.
Arthur jumped at the voice of D.W. and the shine of her flashlight.
Arthur: Turn that thing off.
D.W. switched it off as Arthur turned on his light.
Arthur: Aren't you suppose to be asleep?
D.W: Aren't you suppose to know that Pal can't talk back?
Arthur rolled his eyes with frustration.
Arthur: Go back to bed, and stop invading my privacy.
D.W: I want to know what's going on. And I am concern of your well being and your Menthol health of you talking to Pal like that.
Arthur: It's 'mental' health. And I do this all the time.
He partly said truthfully. He does this sometimes with the good old non possessed Pal. But not that often.
Arthur: You just never paid attention.
D.W. gave Arthur a blank unconvinced look.
D.W: I tried to not do this...but I'm going to.
D.W. turned on her flashlight and began to walk out of Arthur's room.
Arthur: Where are you going?
D.W. stopped at the doorway and turned back to him.
D.W: Out of your room. Isn't that what you wanted me to do.
Arthur: No...I mean...yeah, but what are going to do?
D.W: I'm going to tell mom and dad that you are acting strange and you are keeping a secret.
Arthur: No, don't do that.
Arthur panicked as he bolted out of his bed.
D.W: Then tell me right now.
Arthur: I can't. It's something important that I have to do and I don't want you to get yourself involved.
D.W: Suit yourself.
D.W. shrugged with a cunning smile, and walked to the left down the hall to their parents' bedroom.
Arthur (whispered): D.W. come back. I will tell you everything.
D.W. stopped, right in front of their parents' bedroom door. She turned to Arthur and smiled in the darkness above the dim light shinning on the floor.
D.W: I'm listening.
Arthur: I will tell you everything I know so far. Now please come back.
D.W. didn't budge.
D.W: Not until you promise me that I can get involved with your important secret business if I want to.
Arthur hesitated a little bit as D.W. patiently waited as her hand rose up to the doorknob...and started to turn it.
Arthur: Fine, I promise. As long as you promise not to tell mom and dad about this.
D.W.'s smile brightened as she quietly ran back inside Arthur's room, turned off her flashlight, closed the door, and ran up to her older brother.
She smiled a more gleefully cunning than ever.
D.W: I will keep you posted if I'll keep that promise or not. So...no promises.
Arthur and D.W.
D.W: You really expect me too believe that?
Arthur: I know it sounds crazy, but it is true.
D.W: I'm not buying it.
Arthur: It's true, you have to believe me.
D.W: You would make a terrible lawyer someday.
Arthur: You don't have to believe me. You can go to bed and forget about all of this.
D.W: Not until you can prove it to me.
Arthur: Okay. I think I...wait a minute! You did believe me didn't you? You just wanted me to invite you.
D.W. smiled and blinked innocently.
D.W: Maybe.
She hopped her way onto his bed and got into the covers.
D.W: I'm ready.
