WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29TH
Coming down the extravagant stairwell prepared for breakfast, or what can only be assumed to be breakfast at this point I made sure to keep my familiar, Riddle upstairs as I can only assume what Aunties will think of a summoned snake. Walking into the adjoined kitchen, dining area I started to pick up on the conversation. "feral familiar than one bred for service?" Aunt Zelda's voice rang with judgement. I scratched the back of my neck before I took a step into the room and slowly began to turn around. "Where do you think your going I heard you sneak in last night, I will not tolerate it." Aunt Zelda's voice rang with slight rage as I turned around yet again to prepare myself for the wrath.
"I-i umm went wondering practicing magic, never know when you might encounter something dangerous in good ol greendale aye." I stuttered the words out of my lips without thinking before sitting down at the table whilst everyone started looking down at a cat. "Ohh who's this?" I step over to the pitch black cat stroking him. "That's the feral familiar." Auntie spoke with less violence and more judgement. "She means Salem, his my familiar." Brina spoke with joy as I then began to make my way back to my seat. "I also have a familiar, his also "feral" as you call it auntie." I make sure to use speach marks as I quote her. "And what form has the creature taken on, Scarlett." "A, snake. Named Riddle." I quickly spoke out. "A snake, putrid creature as long as I don't see it slithering around its all yours to play with." Aunt Zelda breathed out of her slim lips. "Well thank you Aunt Zee!" I smile back.
Aunt Hilda then came baring the same 'drink' as yesterday. "Now I know you didn't like it last time but I promise you its better today, added some cinnamon." She smiled at me proud of her concoction. "Yay my fave, thank you Aunt Hilda." I smile back before retching a little looking at the drink as Sabrina tries to gold in her chuckle. "And why did you name him Salem of all things." Aunt Zelda carried the conversation on. I laughed to myself thinking about the irony of the name. "I didn't, he named himself Salem." Sabrina spoke back with a more questioning tone. "Well at least, you both have your familiars now." Aunt Hilda stated lightening up the atmosphere. "Your both purifying yourself, ready for your baptism." "About that." Sabrina answered with such pride as if she had a death wish. She paused. "So, I'm in the middle of getting this club started at school." She smiled through her words. "Club? What kind of club?" Me and Zelda questioned in unison I looked at her then down at my knees, i cringed at how much I hated the moment. "Women protecting women. You know sort of like a coven. Anyway, I was wondering if we could maybe, possibly postpone my baptism a little bit." I smiled at my sister proud of what she's accomplishing. Aunties eyes shot open, "Postpone it?". Auntie Hilda's shrill voice was heard "Oh dear." Aunt Zees piercing eyes landed on Sabrina. "Sabrina, you cannot postpone your 16th birthday, especially not when it falls on the eclipsing of a blood moon which only occurs once every 66 years." Her head then began to turn to me. "Im fine with the baptism. Trust me." I shot my arms up in innocence.
I began to tune the conversation out because of my own thoughts eating me up about Tommy, I love him but being a witch, being baptist is what links me to my father and my mother, Im sure they would be proud to see me growing up into the witch they want me to be. I can't defy that. My attention perked up when I hear "Witch law forbids noviciates from being anything less than virginal." Aunt Zelda's words rang with judgement, as Ambrose joined the conversation with a laugh "Oh wow." I couldn't help but let out a chuckle this conversation I'm all ears in. "Oh Sabrina you can share." I tease. "Scarlett, Aunt Zelda!" She takes a breathe. "Not that its anyone's business, but no." Ambrose turn his head towards me in unison of everyone else. "Nope, no, no, no. Not having this conversation. You know what I'm off not liking this at all. I raise from my seat saying fare well to my family with a smile etched into my face as I leave through the front door.
Before heading to school, I decided to pay Tommy a visit as I left yesterday with no explanation after throwing a bombshell on us. After reaching the Kinkle residents, I peered through the open window to see Tommy I assume getting ready for his job down at the mines. I throw rocks at his window trying to gain his attention, as he then finally noticed the sound and began walking closer to the window. "Scar?" Tommy perched himself on the windowsill. "Ohh Kinkle, Kinkle let down your hair." I sung up to him before he released a breathy laugh. He then began to look down, and with a more serious, monotone voice answered. "The doors open, come on up."
Reaching Tommys room I looked around trying to remember and embrace everything about him. I looked at the mining helmet he perched on his head everyday, to protect himself. I then looked at the photos plastered around his room of all the memories he cherished. The people he loved. I took a step towards him, I could smell the mines on him, a hint of his cheap cologne and the sweet smell of chocolate and mint lingered on his lips. I rose my hands towards his face. I clasped them gently on both sides of his face before muttering. "Tommy, listen to my voice, hear my words, and forget our relationship, forget us. Bless your mind, bless your heart, let these painful thoughts depart." I shouted the words as I got closer to the end. He closed his eyes and as the reopened them. I was gone, out of his life. If he can't remember, he won't feel the pain.
I let one tear fall as I was scared, if anymore fell I would never stop crying and never stop loving him.
