Chapter 4

"Dare you to jump into that space of nothingness," Travis dared. Conner grinned, then took a running start at the black thing.

"YOLO!" He yelled, trying to squeeze into the black stuff.

"And you owe me a peppermint drop AND have to be my butler if you can't squeeze through," Travis added, laughing at Conner's red face.

"Deal. Vise versa," Conner breathed. He sucked in his stomach and puffed out his cheeks, then squirmed around, finally falling through the hole. Travis peered down after him, then hopped in, the hole seeming to largen after Conner's intrusion.

"Oof!" Travis had landed on Conner, who had landed on a wriggling mass that smelt like sea salt.

"Gerrof my back!" The mess yelled, his voice muffled out by Conner's shirt.

"It's PERCY!" Travis cheered, clambering off Conner, who in turn got off Percy.

"Dude! We've been looking everywhere for you scumbugs!" Conner complained after glancing around the room and seeing so many people gathered.

"Like, who's all these people?" Travis asked. Annabeth did all the introductions, leaving Connor and Travis gaping.

"A king!" Conner said, then held out a gift box. Travis slung an arm around Kai's shoulder, sneaking away his ring (A/N just pretend he's got a ring) while Conner thrust the box into Kai's hands.

"Gift for you," Travis said, then grinned at every one, showing off his stolen ring.

"Did you steal that?" Annabeth asked.

"I'll get it back," Hazel said, then shifted her foot and the ring came flying toward her.

"Hey, no fair! Cheat," muttered Travis.

Kai opened the box, yelling when water squirted all over his face.

"Oh my stars, are you alright?" Cinder had rushed over to Kai, then told Cress to get her some rags. While she wiped Kai's face clean, the Stoll brothers were laughing.

"He's a royal laugh, alright!" Conner said. Travis nodded his head enthusiastically.

"So... we need to save Scarlett?" Jason asked, glancing at Cinder.

"Yeah. I think we'll be able to make it. We've now got someone who can... charm speak, as you call it. And each of you can do different things, right?" Cinder asked. Percy shrugged.

"Well, Jason can fly and control air, I can control water and can stay in it forever, Annabeth is just super smart-"

"Just?!" Annabeth said, arching an eyebrow. Percy winced, then carried on.

"Annabeth is extremely importantly smart, Nico can summon dead stuff, Piper can charm speak, Leo can fix things, Grover... eats aluminum cans, Juniper can - I don't know - nature?" Grover looked up from his aluminum can, then looked back down.

"And Clarisse's usefulness is currently questioned," Percy said, and got slapped in the head by Clarisse.

"Watch it, buster. I can fight," she said, glaring at Percy.

"Yeah! She killed a Drakon all by herself!" Travis said. He didn't like all the attention off him and his brother.

"So let's make a plan - then we're breaking in," Annabeth said.
