Chapter 4: Barricades

They grabbed all the weapons remaining in the shop and left the building. "Guys, we could leave the city by traveling this road, and only this road." informed Arkin "Then let's go!" said the group. They continued down the road while war planes come roaring in the sky, they were hurrying until they come across a tall barricade blocking the road they needed to cross. "Ah crap." "We're doomed!" "What do we do?!" panicked everyone, "There's gotta be another way around this, let's go around the blockage!" suggested Kyle. They cut through alleyways and abandoned houses but they were all blocked by the same giant concrete wall, "Well I'm out of ideas." muttered Kyle. They were about to try climbing until they heard a voice saying "I got an idea for you guys." They were startled by the sudden voice, Arkin tried to find where it came from. After a few minutes of poking around, he found a small radio that he assumed was where the voice came from. Arkin pressed a few buttons and answered the radio.
"Hello? Who is this?" Arkin asked
"Ah, it's about time you found the radio." It replied
"Any way, what is that idea of yours?"
"My idea is for you to escape by using an abandoned car I have observed in my time."
"What? How'd you 'observe' it?"
"I have access to the surveillance cameras in the streets so if you want to stay alive, you best follow my instructions."
"Okay, okay."
"The car behind you, check it out."
Arkin looked behind him and saw a car that had broken windows and bent doors, the group closed in and checked the whole vehicle.
"Okay, the fuel is pretty low. Please advise on what we should do." Arkin informed.
"Well, you're not gonna need the car any way." replied the radio
"Say what?"
"You're only gonna use it to break the barrier."
"How're we gonna do that?"
"Find something heavy and put it on the accelerate pedal."
"Okay, guys we need to find a barbell or something like that." Arkin announced.
"Hey Ark, we got another problem." said John
"What is it?"
"We don't have the car keys!"
"Oh gosh!" he said in frustration.
Justin overheard their conversation and proposed a meaningful solution. Without a word, he jumped into the car and took out two hair pins and proceeded to lock pick the car.
"Dude, I had no idea you could do that." said John in awe.
"I never told you, it helped during my time in poverty." Justin said back.
After a few moments of picking the lock, Justin gave up saying "Ah, this lock is pretty advanced for me. I learned this skill 6 years ago."
The group was disappointed. With nothing to lose, Kyle immediately got two red wires stripped and connected it to a brown wire and then stripped another wire he calls "starter wires" and connected it to the red wires. The car jumped back to life, while they were about to celebrate Kyle cut them short and made them find the barbell. While Kyle was busy trying to keep the car on, the radio man contacted Arkin again.
"I'm pretty impressed with that friend of yours, I thought you were gonna suffer an explosive death." said the man
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure he just got that from google or something." Arkin replied.
"Still, not everyone could do that."
"I could."
"If you get to me I'll help you practice it."
"Deal."

"Hey guys! I found a pretty heavy barbell!" shouted John in excitement
"Heavy enough for the pedal?" asked Kyle
"I think so."
With their lives on the line, Kyle reversed the car about a few meters away, he hopped out of the car and quickly placed the barbell on the accelerator.
"Quick everyone, push it!" ordered Arkin.
Everyone pushed with all their might as the car gained speed and momentum. They quickly followed the road as the car smashed into the barricades with a large bang! The car's speed was enough to knock down the barricade, and it was followed by an explosion caused by the electric posts tumbling down and lighting the gas leaked by the car on fire. Of course, while the group was admiring the cool visuals, they needed to hurry as they knew that loud commotion must've attracted a large onset of zombies.
