Chapter ONE "THE BIRTH OF THE RISING ERA"

Thousands and thousands of years ago… Earth had unleashed her wrath on people. Thousands upon thousands of them died. Countries were wiped-clean and buildings were crumbled to dust. It was all ruined.

From dust, a new era rises. Most of the survivors had learned to live again. They rebuilt the world. They created new wonders. They created the Rising Era - a much improved, advanced, and technical era.

And along with it rise a new way of living and dividing.

Seven continents and hundreds of countries with different leaders; is the PAST. But your past NEVER defines your future. For now, the world is divided into 24 stations representing different kinds of careers. And now, there’s only ONE person who holds the responsibility of governing the whole world – The Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister watches all the activities in the whole world. He has eyes everywhere. He knows every detail of every individual. He connects to everyone on Earth. He keeps peace and order. He keeps balance.

Balance and Equality are very important for the stationers. Yes there are some who owns bigger houses or bigger money. But the government still implies balance. For every food, air, and water supply is given equally to all the stationers. Every week, the government sends stock of food and water to each house. It doesn’t require any money for payment. The labor each individual give to their station is enough.

98th day, Year 201, Rising Era

STATE’S MINISTRY

Office of the Minister

The door let out a swish, disturbing the Prime Minister form his deep thoughts. A robot, about the height of a 7 year old kid, entered and made its way towards the minister’s desk.

"Sire," he called.

The minister didn’t budge. He continued watching past his large glass windows, watching the wonders of the entire state. Finally, he let out a sigh before turning his swivel chair to face the robot.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Sire it’s all ready," the robot replied.

"Is it?" the Minister asked nonchalantly.

"Yes Minister Pribe, the Stations awaits you."

Minister Pribe just nodded before he stood. He then cast another look outside his large glass windows where he can see the whole State’s citadel. Once satisfied, he went straight to the familiar room.

There, in a small and close room that seems to be the nightmare of those who’re Claustrophobic, lays a single chair in front of the latest high-technological camera. This room has always been the room where the Minister connects to all the living souls left on Earth; the people of the 24 Stations.

Minister Pribe settled himself in the chair and the camera automatically turned on, focusing its lens on the Minister.

He cleared his throat first.

"My dear stations," he started, looking straight at the camera as if he’s talking to every soul in the world. And he is. For the camera automatically connects to all televisions in all 24 stations.

"Our generation has always been a legend for us. We all came from a ruined and crumbled past but we all managed to survive. And now, as all of you might’ve already guessed, on this 98th day of our 201st year of the Rising Era, a great dream of ours has finally came true," he paused. "Our most intelligent scientists and technology experts has reported a great success in their mission. We, the citizens of Earth, are now allowed to travel in space and to live in our neighboring planet to escape the wrath of our very own planet Earth."

"But along this felicitous news came an unpleasant one," he continued. "Our supposed-to-be new home can never support us the same way our planet did. So my dear Stationers, I now open the start of Fatal Conquest. You all know the rules. The sorting begins tomorrow. May all the rejected luck unleash unto you."

As the RisingEra starts, the brightest gentlemen on Earth had proclaimed that the extinction of the world is yet to come. Afraid of suffering the tremendous natural calamities, the new government has ordered the research of alternative ways of surviving.

Migrating to the other planet was the best of all.

But of course, they had already predicted the population problem that may occur in their future habitat. So there will only be a few slots. That’s when the idea of Fatal Conquest emerged.

Fatal Conquest is the term they used to describe the deadly competition of fighting to death. It required 2 participants, called the Conquerors, to represent each station in the game.

Survival Of The Fittest is the main thought of the game. This game has been used only once during the election of the new government. The conqueror who won before became the very first Prime Minister. Before, the conquest only requires 1 representative each station. But now, Prime Minister Pribe decided to make it two so that the conquerors would find the game less difficult.

There are also new rules that had been added to the conquest. It has been said that the conquest is now much more deadly, exciting, and magical.

The 2 winners, both from the same station, would be granted a list of names of those whom they would want to join them in migrating. That’s the main idea of fighting for the slots; to bring your kin with you.

And only few are brave enough to do it.
