It was still very early in the morning when Evan was woken up by his door bell ringing only a few days after the fundraiser. Ellie was still camping out on his couch but for some reason, when the boy entered his living room she was gone but he was too tired to think about it right now. "I'm coming!" He yelled when there was a loud knock on his door and he rubbed his eyes sleepily before he opened it.

Standing in front of his door was Klaus with a smug grin on his face and Evan frowned while he internally went over all the possibilities of how he could've found out where he lived. "Aren't you going to invite me in, love?" Klaus asked, the smile not once leaving his face. "I've been told that's a bad idea." The original vampire sighed and Evan's jaw dropped when he entered his apartment anyway since that was supposed to be impossible for him considering Evan couldn't recall ever inviting him in.

The human turned around to Klaus and suddenly memories came floating back into his mind of how the vampire had been there on the day of the fundraiser only shortly after he had arrived home himself and how he had been able to compel him because Evan always forgot to take vervain if Eliza or Marcel didn't remind him of it.

Evan quickly turned around to a cupboard where he usually stashed his vervain but Klaus was faster and took it out of his hands. "Don't be stupid, love, I'm not here to hurt you." "What do you want then?" "I simply want to be your friend," Klaus said as he sat down in the armchair and smiled up at the human. "By compelling me? Really? That's not how you gain my trust."

Evan walked over to his fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. "You know it's rude of you to not offer me something to drink. I am your guest after all." The young man scoffed and took a sip of water before he left it standing on the kitchen counter. "Sorry, I don't have blood bags stashed in my fridge." "Now that's a lie seeing as my sister has been living on your couch the last couple of days."

The lack of surprise and confusion coming from Evan threw Klaus off guard for a moment but then he just smirked, "I see she finally told you about me." "She told me a lot about you. Now what do you want?" The vampire stood up and walked over to where Evan was leaning against his kitchen counter, looking deeply into his eyes. "I need you to spy on Marcel for me and tell me everything he says. And forget I was here." And just like that, Klaus was gone and Evan was left confused as to why he was standing in his kitchen when he could be sleeping instead.

A couple of hours later, Evan and Eliza were standing behind the counter in Rousseau's which was rather empty at this point because most people were outside preparing for the annual Dauphine Street Music Festival. However, there were some people gathered in the bar although most of them were some of Marcel's daylighters.

"Didn't I show you how to polish glasses when you started working here? I thought you would know that after almost two years." Evan scoffed and looked over at his best friend who was holding a wine glass against the light to see if it was clean. She turned to him and grinned which resulted in him throwing a towel at her face. "I'm messing with you," Eliza laughed and put the glass away, throwing the towel right back to him.
