I woke up to a sharp pain which made my leg throb, my breathing was heavy as I placed my hand on my clammy chest. I looked around realizing I had fallen out of bed. I got up and sat on my bed examining my knee which began to form a yellowish purple color, and started to slightly swell.

My alarm clock screeched beside me and I jumped, it flashed 8.45, today was the day of my aunt Grace's funeral, pushing the thoughts of today aside, I rubbed my eyes and walked quickly to my bathroom. Turning to the mirror I winced at my reflection, my hair clung to my head and my eyes were red and puffy, I was crying in my sleep again. Gently I applied concealer around my eyes getting rid of the redness. I rubbed my dark auburn hair away from my clammy forehead and ran my fingers threw it until I reached the ends past my boobs.

I walked into my wardrobe and saw the black dress I had previously picked for the funeral hanging up, but because of the swollen mess I got my leg into I opted for a cream blouse, black skin tight jeans and boots. I turned and looked at myself in the full length mirror, I took a deep breath,

'Everything's gonna be okay'

I whispered to myself, even though I didn't believe it. I hated funerals, it just brought back memories of when I had to say goodbye to my mom, tears welled up in my eyes as the memories all came back but I pushed them aside not allowing any tears fall.

'Good morning' I said walking into the kitchen,

'Hey'

Rylan replied taken a spoonful of cereal. I walked over to the press and got a bowl of cereal for myself. I sat down on the table across from Rylan realizing he was more interested in the news which flashed on the flat screen above me, than my entrance.

'Oh yeah whatever you say, it's not like you even care!'

Rylan and I both looked at each other, they were awake and fighting again.

'Breaking news'

I said in my best news anchor voice,

'Mr John Grey and wife Amber Grey are fighting, again'

Rylan and I both laughed aloud.

'What's so funny'

My dad said walking into the kitchen carrying a cup of coffee,

'Nothing'

I said taking a spoon full of cereal.

'Trouble in paradise?'

Rylan asked, I had to conceal my giggles as my dad scolded him. My dad hated whenever me or Rylan mocked his relationship with Amber.

'We're leaving in 15 minutes so hurry on'

my dad muttered, I glanced at the clock 'it's only half 9, what's the rush?'

'we're going to graces house before we go to the church'

he said pouring coffee into a mug 'why'

I said and I suddenly realised I had said it a bit too harshly, it was only because the house freaks me out. Dad turned back and faced me

'why wouldn't we, what's the problem?'

He almost shouted '

nothing'

I said looking away, noticing Rylan was gone.
