The wind whistled through my ears as I ran, making my way through the forest as fast as possible. Everything in my body was telling me to go faster, faster, but I'm almost breathless from running. If I could just make it out of the clearing and if the men caught me, they could find out the secret the pack has tried so hard to keep: Werewolves still exist. Shots rang out and I willed my legs to keep going, but I couldn't keep this fast pace for long. I screamed in agony as the bullet pierced my side, searing pain ravaging through my who body. I fell to the ground, chest heaving with my last breath on my lips. Begging in my mind for someone to come save me. I knew I had to stay awake for Fiory and Reggie. A streak of brown colored fur tore across my peripheral vision, and a small bit of hope arose from somewhere deep inside me. Suddenly, my chest was heaving but I couldn't breathe, and things started to go fuzzy as I died. My son, my only child, was gone. I couldn't hold him and say goodbye and the sadness went soul deep.
