~No Longer Human~

I Woke To A Nightmare

It had only been 2 days since I was hospitalized. I laid in the hospital bed, trying to eat the food they served. Everything tasted like garbage well to my taste buds. I still felt weak and asked myself. "Am I still capable of calling myself human?" The thought never seem to leave my mind. The recent cravings for human flesh whenever I spotted the people below, and almost attacking the doctor! What is going on with me? I continued to ask myself questions and patiently waited.

The doctor had to confirm my release. Supposedly I had recently recovered from a "car accident." A nurse was placing a medicine patch over one my right eye and wrapped my head in bandages. "Mr Nishikawa you are okay to leave now." The doctor entered. I responded with a nod getting out of my bed slowly to grab my attire. "Have a nice day!" She said leaving I only sighed. After slipping everything on, I left the hospital as if nothing ever happened. I strolled along the sidewalk minding my own business.

That was until I realized I was surrounded by an overwhelming crowd of people. Suddenly I felt an unearthly feeling as I examined everyone. 'Children, Men, Women...Meat.' My mind was all jumbled up, those words glued into my mind. I decided to escape before someone ended up getting hurt. Trying to make it home, I felt sick I felt like I've been starving for days, my legs gave up. Leaving me defenseless, a frail body on the cold cement ground. I panted, incapable of taking this hunger any longer, it was tormenting my very body. Lifting my head...a sweet aroma filled my nose, it was hard to resist and suddenly my body managed to pick itself up. Drool escaping my mouth as I searched for the source.

I wasn't the athletic type but somehow I was able to run down alleyways, dodge obstacles, cut corners. Without loosing any energy. I was getting closer and closer as the aroma grew stronger I had no control over my actions all I wanted was to satisfy my hunger. But then the sight stopped me dead in my tracks, the source I was looking for was coming from a corpse. In front of me a ghoul feasting away at the body. My stomach tied in knots but a part of me made my mouth continue to water. 'Meat...Organs...Fat' ,was the only thing on my mind. Startled by my presence, the lesser ghoul begins to growl at me.

"What're you doing here?" He asks with a threatening tone.

"U-Uh."

But the hostility ended and he displayed generosity toward me. "Oh you must be hungry, and weird only one of your eyes is- never mind."

The ghoul mindlessly ripped off a limb offering it to me. I gulped reaching out, 'Wait what am I doing! I'm only human!' I tried resisting taking the limb, the ghoul only stared confused. "I-I'm sorry but I have to go." I started feeling an excruciating pain, trying to make it home without passing out. Somehow I did make it opening the door with slight difficulty. Upon entry, I walked toward the bathroom to wash off my face.

Looking at my reflection, a wave of fear hit me. "M-my eye!" I said with complete shock. The eye that the nurse didn't conceal had turned into a Kakugan. I leaned against the wall sliding down burying my face into my knees.

"I'm a monster and this unearthly feeling, I don't know what it is...but I can't escape it."

It was hopeless I truly was a monster...like everyone said. Only it was more realistic than before. I got up, and started dragging my feet toward the bedroom, immediately collapsing onto the ground not even anywhere near the bed. I currently didn't care, my life has just changed..."What happened to me?" I questioned myself.
