Chapter 7

Flashback interruption

"Oh goddess, Ruby!! I'm so sorry!" Sapphire exclaims, interrupting me.

"That was just my first day, there's a lot more to come" I reply, ignoring the fact she interrupted me.

Thorn stares at me with wide sorrowful and angry eyes while mine stare back with no emotion, I hide how I'm feeling from them, at least from him. I had opened the window before I began, it wasn't fair to keep him in the dark about why I am who I am.

"Ruby, where is your mother during this?" Sapphire asks randomly.

"Dead, she died 2 years before"

Flashback – to following day

I'm awoken by my bod meeting the cold floor, I gasp in shock and look up to see one of the males, I recognise him but I'm not sure who he is. my mind is to scrambled. A small flicker passes in his eyes that I could swear was sorrow but I pass it as my mind playing tricks on me. He hauls me up over his shoulder wrapping an arm around my legs and carries me out of the Alpha house, looking outside, I see it's still early as the sky is a shade or so lighter than normal. I whimper and wait to be put down, watching the ground beneath us turn from grass to floorboards as we enter the pack house and some of the wolves I saw yesterday are there and look over at us grinning. We start going upstairs and I frown before realising he's probably taking me to his room. I sigh as we step through a door and he throws me on the bed. He locks the door and then walks back over to me.

"If you're quiet I won't hurt you as much," he whispers in my ear barely audible and hope flutters in my chest.

I nod my understanding and he raises his fist, pausing as if he doesn't want to do it before sighing and swinging but it doesn't feel like it has his full strength behind it. Still he leaves bruises on my arms, legs and stomach and I grit my teeth forcing myself to stay quiet. After only a couple of hits he stops and I let my body relax slightly. He offers me his hand to pull me off the bed and I tentatively take it, not fully trusting him. He leads me downstairs, his hand moving from my hand to my upper arm and holding it loosely but firmly, Carlson comes into view with a smug look plastered to his face.

"Thank you beta" Carlson says.

"You're welcome Alpha" the beta says bowing and backing away from me.

"Little Bitch, come forward" Alpha calls.

I have no idea what possessed me but when he called me Little Bitch I couldn't stop the small growl that passed my lips and he heard it, his expression tells me I'm in a lot of trouble. I back away fearfully, whimpering and bowing my head, trying anything to be forgiven. It was futile, I knew it even as I did it, I'm no longer cared about, just a toy for them to play with. He strides over and grasps my chin, putting pressure on the bruise he created yesterday, the bone is almost mended but I wouldn't tell him that. I wince a little and grit my teeth as he flicks my head upwards. Suddenly he spins me around and pulls me flush against his body. His nose trails down my neck where he had pulled my head to the side and everyone watches intently, I shiver and he seems to interpret that as a squirm as he tightens his grip around me. He nibbles a little on my neck and shoulder before very suddenly and unexpectedly sinking his canines into the joint between my neck and shoulder...

Flashback paused

"Right where my mate is supposed to mark me" I say

Pulling my black top down, I show Sapphire the mark he left and Thorn can just about see it.

"Luck was on my side that day, he only did one side and he only did it once. He did it on my left, which I had already planned to be unmarked." I say, I look at Thorn as I say the next part. "I wanted my mate to mark me on my right."
