It was April first, and I thought she was fooling me .April first also known as April’s fool. This was the day when her life got changed. In fact both of our life got changed. She told me she had leukemia and I had laughed really harder in order to prove that I was not carried away by her fake act, though it seemed a little realistic.
“Common dear! I am better at pranks. But, I must say your acting is very much convincing. Better than mine” I had said.
Later, when she wept really bad holding me, as if she will never let me go I knew that it was a truth. I had wished that it would be a bad joke for the day. I had wished she would have laughed really harder in the middle of crying and said it was a PRANK. Crumpled down under the blanket and unlocking my mobile phone again and again I had wished she would text me telling ‘it was a bad joke, I’m sorry’ with a smiley at the end. I had wished…..How I had wished she would live with me forever……
Chemotherapy, Radiation oncology and its derivatives appeared in my nightmares. I hated it. I hated ketones , hydrocarbons, benzene and alcohol derivatives.
Yet the very first day of my high school I remember was chemistry practical. The teacher stood by the door as I walked in.
“Name” she asked?
“Bond”
“Bond what?”
“Bond. James Bond”
Stop kidding. Give me your last name. She had threatened me. With an annoyed look I had thought, ‘why the heck these people can’t understand?’ Ma’am my name is James Bond. “It should be either on second or third but from last.” I laughed.
“Do you think it’s funny?” she questioned me while screening my name from the last in the attendance list. “Oh! It’s you then. Common in.” It was that glad moment for me. “Welcome Bond, 007” a girl in the front row teased me, who seemingly was Over-smart.
“You see that girl with black long hair? She’ll be your lab partner for the rest of the year. No substitution or swaps?” she told as if like threatening .Again.
“Jeez!! I get a girl now. Worst of all.” I sulked off to meet my lab partner for the rest of the year and notably, I could not swap or have any substitutions.
“Hi! Seems you’re my lab partner for the rest of the year, no substitutions or swaps” I said. “My name is Bond. James Bond.”
She nodded in disbelief. “Your name is JAMES BOND. Really?”
“Yes my parents are huge fan of James Bond, and my father’s surname just so happens to be Bond.”
“That’s interesting”, she laughed. “Please to meet you Mr.Bond, I am “Emma Watson” her sarcastic tone reflected. “ok! Your parents are Emma’s fan then” I was about to say, but she interrupted.
“Emma. Emma Craig, Was pulling your leg” she admitted. For the first time the notorious guy was being objected. It didn’t feel bad though.
“Well Emma, if you ever need my help, don’t hesitate to ask.” I assured her. And it was from that day, I am the one who is always seeking help from her. Haha.
Emma was gorgeous. We were merely into fifteen minutes into our experiment and I was already noticing her long black shiny hair.
“Emma” I said
“what?”
“Umm well if it counts, I like your hair long.” I hoped I hadn’t freaked her out. I had known her for fifteen minutes and I was already giving her creepy compliments. She smiled and return back to her lab reports. “I almost acted like James Bond.” I told myself. “You can never approach a girl like that, I again told myself.” Half an hour later bell rang and while we were packing, she leaned a step closer. Her hair happened to brush my cheek. I could feel that tinge in my heart. I felt as if all those lab tubes arranged in an order to bring out some romantic music, and when she was gone those tubes reshuffled to their original places. I could do nothing but to follow her. “Emma, wait! Don’t make this young lad suffer in this huge school. I’ll be lost” shouted, in order to reach her.
