My Place
My first instinct was to write about a place I would always go to when I wanted to get away. The place no kid should ever go, especially in my town. I live near a scrapyard and I would always go there and chill out in a truck, but they got rid of the truck because some old lady called the cops on me for being there. Now, the only place I can go is a small creek down the hill from my house. It's hidden in the woods, also on private property. I shouldn't be going there and I know it but it's a fun place to go take pictures and chill out. It's always wet and gross so the only colors I can tell you that I see are green and brown. The trees and spiky vines are a bright green with so much mud surrounding them.
The creek is hidden in some brush and flowers, but just off of the road. Once you finally get there, you smell gross, old, homeless people, but you never see them. I always find something new, every time I go down. Sometimes I find a small tent, sometimes I find Tupperware with bred in it, sometimes I even find clothes and a fishing pole to catch the minnows. After I get past the smell and look at what's new, I get into the creek, that goes almost up to my knees. I usually bring some winter gloves or gardening gloves, a knife, and what I call my "River Shoes" which are just an old pair of tennis shoes. I bring those things so that I know I wont get hurt by whatever creature decides to show up that day, whether it be a snake, a frog, a raccoon, a skunk, or a deer. One time, I even found an Alligator Snapping Turtle. Most of the time when I go to my spot, I like to catch crayfish. That is what the gloves are for. I like to relax here, the sounds are very nice and calming. Every now and again I'll hear a car drive by, or I'll hear the birds chirping from deeper in the woods.
