*at first, it may seem that the book has nothing to do with the title or description, but trust me, it will*

Nowadays, it seems like every little kid needs an iPad to keep them entertained. All of society is obsessed with technology. But, there was one exception in this society; the Fraser family.
You see, Emmalynn Fraser's parents, Kathleen and Tom Fraser, seemed to be stuck 60's, the time when they grew up. They seemed to believe that in order for Emmalynn to be successful in life, she had to be raised just like they were. Which meant no electronics, with few exceptions.
The Fraser family did indeed have a landline phone. It might be one of those turn dial phones, but hey, it worked. The other two exceptions were their old radio, which played no current music, and their black and white tv. The tv had three channels: the news, the weather, and the Discovery Channel, none of which interested Emmalynn.
So, Emmalynn was stuck to live a life without a cell phone, that's right, no iPhone, or even one of those crappy starter phones you get when you're twelve. This life that her parents chose for her also meant that they had no computer, and get this, no wi-fi.
Now imagine that. No current music. No internet. No YouTube. No Pretty Little Liars. None of that.
Emmalynn wasn't completely left in the dark though, her best friend Kennedy had all that techie stuff, and as hard as she tried, she failed to keep Emmalynn up to date. And of course Emmalynn did live in this technology based society, so she was exposed to it to an extent. Just not on a daily basis.
So what Emmalynn was left with were books and schoolwork. Emmalynn happened to be the perfect student, she never had to try too hard to exceed in school. She also taught herself how to play the piano, because what else does she have to do in her free time? Ah, yes, I'm leaving out one small, very significant detail. Swimming.
Emmalynn was practically a fish. She was in the pool practicing every day. She had meets every weekend of the summer, sometimes they were out of state or the country even.

Luke Hemmings had an iPhone. He had a laptop, he watched Netflix. He was in a band, so naturally he was exposed to all sorts of media Emmalynn couldn't even dream of.
Luke Hemmings didn't go to school. He was in a band instead.
And Luke Hemmings was most definitely not a swimmer. He wasn't an athlete at all. You'd think, being as tall as he was, he could play sports, but he was simply too awkward and clumsy.

Off the bat, Emmalynn Victoria Fraser and Luke Robert Hemmings had virtually nothing in common. But they say opposites attract, don't they? Yeah right, I'm sure they do.
