AU: Black Blood- When the affected person falls in love, their blood gradually turns black. When the affected person hasn't confessed their feelings, they will start to cough up the black blood. This disease is similar to the Hanahaki Disease

When I saw his bright smile and cheery face. His lively forest green eyes and tinted-pink cheeks. His fluffy dark green hair and cute little freckles. When I saw him, butterflies erupted in my stomach. From the way, he blushed after rambling about heroes, to the way his eyes sparkle when he talks about All Might, I couldn't help but feel something more than friendship with him. My heart skipped beats and my face exploded into the deepest shades of red. I fidgeted with my fingers when he was near and I can't seem to speak clearly when I talk to him. But it was all clear to me one day after school.

I was walking home after a tiring day of school. I clenched my fist when I thought about my feelings for the green-haired boy. Why was I like this? What happened to me?

A bolt of pain struck my chest. My breath was short and unsteady. I gripped my chest as I tried to let the suffocating pain pass. My throat felt scratchy and my lungs were irritated. Then, thinking that it would get rid of the feeling, I coughed. But I didn't stop there. I wheezed out excruciating coughs and the lack of air in my lungs didn't help. It felt as if I were drowning in the water when I felt my throat tighten and my stomach sink. Unable to stand the unbearable pain, I collapsed onto my knees. Cough after cough, needles of pain stabbed at my lungs and the metallic taste in my mouth was far too pungent. Tears filled my eyes and spilled out endlessly. I couldn't stop for a second to even let one merciful breath of air into my system as my body fell numb to the floor with the agonizing coughs.
After the last cough, I opened my eyes weakly and gazed upon the floor where I coughed. There were splatters of a black substance coating the concrete road. The same substance stained my hands and dripped down my arms. The strong metallic smell of blood wafted into my nose. Then I recalled the disease that ran through My family for generations. The disease in which your blood turns black after falling in love. The fact that I'm coughing it up only means that it's only getting worse. I had the Black Blood disease, and that is nowhere near good.

It has been about a week since that incident, and nothing has gotten better. I let out a strained sigh as Uraraka walked over. I quickly noticed her presence and faked a smile.

"Ochako! Hey!" I tried to think of happier thoughts to make my smile seem more convincing. Fluffy cats, chubby dogs... Bright summer sun, rainbow flowers on the hill... Yeah, I feel much better.

"So, (Y/n)-chan, do you want to hang out with us today? We'll be going to a cafe to eat then to the new arcade that opened up close by!" She gave me an innocent grin and radiated happiness. Why did it have to me Ochako-chan to be the on that asked me? I couldn't say no to this happy pure girl, even if I didn't want them to know about my disease.

"Sure, Ochako! Just give me a second to pack up!" I flashed her a smile and she returned it. With the nod of her head, she jogged towards the door and opened it. She turned around and told me,

"We'll be waiting for you at the gate!" She then ran off.

My chest itched and ached. My lungs felt bloated from all the blood. The pulsating pain intensified and I doubled over. This became normal to me, and I adapted to it. It sickened me to my stomach that I actually got used to coughing up blood like a madman. I pulled out my handkerchief and closed it around my mouth. I coughed and cough and wheezed and wheezed. Every time I do this, I feel like I'm drowning. A few seconds passed and the itchy feeling in my chest was soothed for the meantime.

I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder and headed towards the door. At the door, I took one last glance at the spot I was standing in and made sure I didn't spill any blood. Not seeing anything, I wiped the corner of my mouth and left.
