///Just a btw, it might take a chapter or two before Wil actually shows up. I have an intensive background story for this Y/n, and I plan to go with it til the end. The first few chapters will probably be longer, simply so you won't have to wait fifteen chapters to get to what you want. Thank you for your understanding.

To be completely honest, it had been purely instinct. Although it probably did come from a place of kindness, since a few bumps and bruises were better than a life lost, you couldn't say you had done it purely out of empathy.

Empathy would've stopped. Empathy would've thought it out. Instinct didn't. Instinct jumped in front of the raging horse pulling a heavy carriage. Instinct grabbed the old woman. Instinct rolled out of the way, arching to make sure not to hurt her frail body.

It had been purely instinct. It had ruined your garments, the nice expensive ones, though it didn't matter.

The doctor arrived, weird long crow mask on by fear of a plague hitting your region, he took her in. You stayed with her, made sure she'd be ok. She was, so you ran to the general store to get your coach back home.

Almost missed it, though a second ticket would've been a small price to pay compared to that woman's demise.

What you weren't expecting was when you saw her again.

"Hello dear, how have you been?"

The sight of her body hunched over a cup of tea wasn't surprising. She seemed like a tea person. What was, though, was the fact that she was drinking that tea in your living room, as you entered, returning from the trip, only key in hand, door previously locked.

"Why don't you sit down. I have something to ask you."

whatwhatwhat

You walked carefully over to her. She didn't have anything potentially harmful on her, except maybe the tea. Only then did you realise, she was drinking out of your cup.

Sitting on an armchair, as far away from her as possible, you try to understand what is going on, how she got in here. You'd never really been one for proper analytical deduction, so you were still lost after your weak attempt at decoding the situation.

"I wanted to thank you properly." she continues. You desperately want to interrupt, to ask her how she entered, but your voice is stuck. Not that you're nervous or scared, but your vocal cords simply don't seem to work. You try and try to make a sound, but nothing comes out. The woman continues, chuckling at your confusion.

"Repay you, you could say. Or not say, in this case." She laughs at her own joke, covering her mouth with a gloved hand. "Forgive me, after some time, you find joy in the smallest things, as to not go insane."

A small glint in her eyes tells you otherwise.

Witch! She's a witch! you think frantically.

"Oh please, magic enthousiast, spellcaster at best. It's not like you haven't thought about those things, dear."

You blush in embarrassment, looking away. It was true, you held a few books that spoke of witchcraft, never daring to try them for yourself. Though, that didn't matter. If anyone found out, you'd be burned nonetheless.

"Now, what is it you desire?" Her pale green eyes bore into yours, turning a dazzling shade of copper. "Wealth? No... you don't seem the type. Fame? No... not exactly..."

Still staring into your soul, she finally perks up, having apparently figured it out. "Oh, I know! A soulmate!"
