I'm too excited to sleep. Tomorrow is my first day of seventh grade! Of course I'm excited, but I'm scared for new things. I don't want people to pick on me just because I'm short.
"I guess I'll try to get some rest," I sigh to myself.
My eyes open slowly, I turn to my nightstand.
"OH CRAP ITS 7:30!" I shout, as I scramble to get out of bed and put some clothes on."Amaya!" MY mom shouts from downstairs.
"Coming mom!" I shout back.
My mom has always been supportive of me, ever since I came out to her as bisexual she's been, oddly involved with my life. Before that she didn't care what I did.
I rush downstairs and start packing my lunch.
"So, you're late on waking up, not exactly an ideal way to start your school year," my mom says.
"Yeah, but at least I'll get there on time," I shrug.
My house is a good walking distance from the school, it's about 5 minutes, so if I'm doing my calculations correctly, I'll be able to make t there in 3 minutes if I run, just enough time to still find my friends before school starts.
"Bye honey!" My mom says as I rush out the door.
"Bye mom!" I shout. I was halfway down the driveway so I'm not sure she heard me.
I bolt towards the school. I can see the bright banner hanging across the entry saying,
"Welcome new students, to Milton Middle School."I look for my friends, but I can't find them anywhere. This school was much bigger than my elementary school. I look around to see where people are heading. They are going to the gym. I follow hoping I would know somebody, anybody from elementary.
People form lines according to last name. Of course, my line was the longest; Amaya Myra.
I wait in line for a few minutes and finally I've made it to the front."Name?" The lady in front of me asks.
"Hm?" I say. I'm too nervous that I won't be able to see my friends to understand what she's saying.
"Name?" She repeats in a slightly annoyed tone.
"Amaya Mrya," I say.
She hands me a big yellow envelope. Inside is my student planner and my schedule. I read it for a bit and head off to my first class.
My first period class was science, personally, I HATE science. I take a seat at an empty desk, but I can't see any of my friends. I just feel, alone. But that's when I saw, him.
