"Joonie! Don't swim too far or you'll drown!" Yeonjun stared at the concern mother who yells after her son who's attempting to sneakily swim on the deepest part of the ocean. Yeonjun chuckled at the little boy's failed attempt as he continued to walk alone on the sand.
He slowly walks alone as the calm waves touches his bare skin, making him shudder at the freezing temperature of the water. He kept walking to an unknown destination or to a world with an alternate reality that he wishes is the true reality. Somehow, he wanted to suddenly disappear from everyone and everything.
He remembers you, lying down on that hospital bed with your eyes closed, for about the hundredth time. He remembers himself playing with your fingers as he tells his stories that you never got to hear. He remembers the moment the monitor beside you beeped, the moment you're gone.
He blames himself for everything. He blames himself for your death, for your pain, for the struggles you have to go through. Five years he kept a disturbed and melancholic heart that never healed.
After he left the hospital, he never heard news from your family. He didn't want to meddle with them anymore as if everything's fine. What he only knows is that you're not coming back anymore and Haesoo, your mom, Paisley, and Alex probably hates him.
He looks up with his eyes closed to stop the tears that were about to fall. I don't want to cry anymore.
He opens his eyes slowly as the tears that dared to fall are now gone.
He faces forward, only to see a familiar woman standing several distances from where he's standing. The woman is so utterly familiar that Yeonjun squints his eyes at her. His soul is conquered by a feeling of deja vu, a feeling that Yeonjun met the woman not too long ago, like he knew her for so long.
He couldn't figure who the woman is because her long hair is covering her face. Yeonjun slowly walks to her with his hand slowly reaching out. Every step he takes, his scars in his heart slowly heals, one by one.
A breeze of air passed the woman, uncovering the right side of her angelic face. Yeonjun stopped in his tracks with wide eyes, his hand that's once reached out is now back at his side.
He can't believe it.
The woman standing is none other than his ex-girlfriend, Y/N.
She looked so lively standing over there, wearing a floral sundress. It's as if she didn't had any heart diseases, as if she hadn't gone through a coma. Y/N has never looked so alive and happy eversince.
"Y/N?" Yeonjun muttered. She can't be Y/N... this is just a dream... she can't be her, Y/N is already gone... this is just a dream, Yeonjun...
He stares at her with denial with happiness behind. He tries to convince himself that he shouldn't bring his hopes up because all of this is just a dream. A dream that he won't remember once he wakes up.
Y/N tucks several strands if her hair between her ear and faced at the direction where Yeonjun is staring at. She saw him standing over there. With no hesitation, she smiles and waves at him.
The moment Y/N looked at Yeonjun... that's when Yeonjun realized that this isn't a dream. It's the reality.
He smiled. The denial is gone.
"Y/N..."
He ran to Y/N in such speed. He pulled Y/N into a hug that he never want to break. He didn't want to let Y/N slip away again. A few tears of joy fell out of his eyes as the hug gets tighter and tighter.
Y/N smiled and pats Yeonjun's back. "Yeonjun-ah..."
She pulled away but their faces still inches away, she wipes Yeonjun's tears gently as she smiles at him. "Stop crying."
Yeonjun breaks out a smile. "Y-you're alive..." he mutters out. "How?"
"The doctors revived me," You answered. "The moment I was brought back to life again, I finally woke up,"
"You're the first person I wanted to see, you know." You added. "Where were you?"
"When your monitor beeped, I thought you're gone and I..." Another tear fell out again and both reunited lovers laughed.
"Stop crying!" Y/N giggles.
"Sorry, it's just that I badly miss you, " Yeonjun says as he pulls you into a hug again. "These past 5 years I thought you're never coming back, I always think about you. I always cried for you and Iㅡ" Yeonjun sobbed.
"I should've never let you go. I should've never let us go." Yeonjun says.
Your eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean?"
"When we broke up, I was forced. I never intended to hurt you, Y/N. It would be the last thing I do."
"But still, you did it anyway." You laughed as Yeonjun pinches you playfully.
"Y/F/N, will you forgive me for everything?" Yeonjun asks as his eyes bore into you deeply. You stared at him back.
"I forgive you."
Both smiled and kissed each other passionately as if there is no tomorrow.
The moment is perfect until someone splashed water on you. Both of you flinched and looked at the person who had the guts to ruin such moment.
It's a young girl, around thirteen, she pointed at something behind you. "There's a hotel back there, you could check in and maybe do your business there instead here?" That's what she said before she swam away.
You and Yeonjun looked at each other's eyes and laughed at each other. "Let's begin again?"
