Chapter 1

I am a normal student at John Edwards middle school. I don't believe in anything out side of the ordinary. I always believed that the world was how it was and that it would never change.

Leon, my name is special because in this time people have names that consist of numbers. People have lost everything. I used to think that I could make a difference, but no one can.

...

It was third period and I was sitting at my table with my friends 5564 and 1189, but I call them Troy and Lance. Our third period was writing and we were talking about children rights. The government now is making kids less and less needed. Now days kids only go to school to get out of the way of their parents. This was decided by our president Theodore Paul James. Congress and the supreme court were eliminated long ago. Now it's just the president, it's more of a monarchy.

My teacher thinks kids are the most important thing in the world. He says that kids make our future possible. That is true because we are the next generation but humans do nothing. The computers do everything. The world is technological and virtual. That really gets to me. There is not a book for miles around. Everyone uses ebooks. But I found an ancient book. It was a book supposedly to be about magic. But there are pages missing so I couldn't quite grasp the words. But it was a book and I was going to read it because technology disgusts me.

...

After school I went straight home because you can't walk on the streets anymore. There is so much pollution that the streets are of limits. I want to see what it's like cause they say the rebels live there. They say it feels like your free. But I'll never get there because my parents work for the government and they would turn me in without a second thought. I feel that my parents hate me because whenever they look at me they show small signs of disgust and contempt.

...

When I got home I went straight to my room without saying hello to my parents, they don't even notice me. This is one the main reasons I hate the government. Before my parents joined the government we had fun and enjoyable times together.

Then president James "recommended" them to go work for the government. Of course he made an offer they couldn't refuse. I still don't know what he had on my parents, oh well.

...

I started to read the book. It said "These pages contain secrets you have not heard about or might not even believe, but it's all real. Thus will teach you the basics and then you can create your own. This secret has been lost and rediscovered many times over the centuries. I give you the algorithm of magic."

What was an algorithm of magic? I didn't understand. Magic didn't exist. If it did turnout scientists would have figured it out. But they didn't. This could mean two things. One, this is a story. Two, this is really a secret magic book. I continue reading.

"People usually think that magic is amulets spells and wands, they are wrong. Magic is about a complicated algorithm to turn normal words into magical spells that do what the word tells it to do. Magic is a being. Magic is someone who posses power. When we say a magical spell we ask him to do something on his language. So basically magic is translation into a language only one being can understand. Every language has it's own algorithm but this book is only for the English language.

Lesson 1.

First you will learn how to translate english words into magical words. It us not that simple and you will most likely end up using a notebook to write down your translations.

Let's take a simple word, create. To turn this into a magical word you have to do four things. One, take the last letter and put it to the back. So create will now be ecreat. Next you move the second letter and move it to the end. Now the word is ereatc. Then you flip the word, now the word is ctaere. Lastly you count the among of letters, in this case it is 6, and count to that number in the alphabet. So a, b, c, d, e, f. F Is the sixth letter. You add it to the end of the word if it is a consonant, and to the front if it is a vowel. F is a consonant, therefore we move it to the back. Our result is ctaeref. This is your first magical word."
