A/N: I highly doubt you haven't heard of King Arthur, but he's a legendary king from Great Britain. The famous knight Sir Lancelot, the wizard Merlin, and Queen Guinevere were all from the legend. There have been many variations of the legend, but you can say that this is my own. I have added two OCs in this version, who may or may make an appearance: Sir Meferdor and Sir Lucius.

Just kidding. One definitely will make an appearance, because this just so happens to be from the point of view of Sir Meferdor.

Sir Meferdor did not know what to do. Never, for the life of him, did he expect Sir Mordred, the king's own son (though illegitimate), to murder his father. Normally, King Arthur would leave the kingdom in the capable hands of Sir Lancelot, but seeing how he had betrayed them all with his little affair with the Queen, he couldn't possibly do that. So of course his best option seemed to be his own son.
What no one remembered was that no matter how much royal blood he had, he was still susceptible to corruption. With a few promises of power and respect beyond his imagination, the enchantress and princess Morgan le Fay had him as another pawn in her game to take the throne. When Arthur returned, he found his throne stolen by his half-sister and son. All the while, Sir Meferdor had stood loyally by his king's side.
Even with his many shortcomings, Meferdor knew his one defining characteristic would always be his loyalty. But what does the loyal one do when the receiver of their loyalty is bleeding out in front of them?
Suddenly, a fairy-like apparition materialized above the lake that was next to them. A glimmer of hope for their king's life alighted within him. "Bring him to us. We may be able to... preserve him," the apparition informed.
"Who are you?" Though there wasn't much he could do to help his king at this point, he would like to know if there was anyone who could — and who, exactly, they were.
"I am the Lady of the Lake," she replied. Meferdor relaxed, he knew exactly who this was. He had been present when the king was relating his adventures to Geoffrey of Monmouth, Camelot's historian. The Lady of the Lake had given King Arthur Excalibur, the most powerful sword ever created, to wield.
He silently helped the lower ranking knights load their king into a boat that had magically appeared at the edge of the lake.

Meferdor never saw his king again.
