"Lilly, time to wake up. Hurry, otherwise you will be late for school." Janice walked into Lilly's room. Lilly was laying on her bed as asleep as she was ten minutes ago. Janice got an idea. She remembered how when Lilly was younger, the two would have pillow fights and once one had the other pinned down, they would hold the pillow over their face until they surrendered. Janice slowly crept towards Lilly then grabbed a pillow and held it over Lilly's face and yelled into her ear "Wake up sleepy head!" and started giggling. Nothing happened.

She pulled the pillow away to see that Lilly's face was tinged a slight blue. She was dead. She wanted to scream, but she couldn't. She was paralyzed. She didn't hold the pillow there that long, did she? She checked for a pulse with shaking hands. Lilly was dead. Janice started to cry. She got up and ran to her room. She got into bed and hid under her covers, shaking and crying. Maybe this was just a dream. Maybe she was just afraid and stressed and all of that caused her to have a horrible nightmare. Eventually she fell asleep.

Police report:

Janice Whealer, mother of Lilly and Grace Whealer, age 37, was found in her home on June 6, weeping in her bed, six days after suffocating Lilly to death after she caught her making out with and drinking alcohol with her boyfriend, although she claims not to remember suffocating her at that point in time. She says that she remembers sending the boy home and yelling at Lilly and sending her to bed. She had planned on making up with her in the morning. She went to wake her up and killed her by accidentally smothering her. She also says that she didn't realize that a week had passed. She remembered the fight happening last night. The doctors say it is a simple case of denial, as people in denial will complete the same task over and over without ever realizing that they just did it.

On the night of the murder, Grace had gone up to Lilly's room to talk to her, five minutes later, they heard Janice climbing up the stairs and Grace got scared and hid in the closet. From there she watched as Lilly was suffocated with a pillow. She passed out and woke in the morning to see Janice try to smother the dead body while telling it to wake up. Unaware at the time that her mother kept going to sleep, she hid in the closet for six days until she built up the courage to escape. She promptly went to the police station and reported the whole thing.

The trial over the murder will be held on June 21. Grace will be placed into therapy and foster care.
