Chapter 1: Decision
I sat on my chair, with my legs crossed on the grey study table. I don't even use it to study, it's only a decoration in my room. Just another furniture to me. I took a sip of the Cola in my hand, I don't know where it came from, but it's in my hand. So I don't care. I accidentally spilled the Cola on my favourite pyjamas that I was wearing. Can this day get any worse? I stood up and took another set of pyjamas from the closet. I practised my basketball skills by throwing the stained pyjamas all the way into the laundry basket across the room. Yay! A shoot! I changed to the pink, pure cotton pyjamas and stared at my laptop's screen. I can't believe nobody's online, it's a Sunday evening! My head was travelling, thinking about what I should wear to school tomorrow. When all of a sudden, I saw Veronica online.
farzzz: hey! :D didnt knw ur on9

ilovehim: heyyy

ilovehim: oh sry girl gtg bye mwah ttyl
That's Veronica for you. She goes online one minute and the next... She's gone. I would usually just call her. She replies late when she texts. Late... Very late. Late like when you forgot what you actually sent her the last time. I heard my phone rang. I quickly ran to my bed to get my yellowish green phone. I love my phone. It's one of my favorite things I got from my parents. I lied on the bed and picked up my phone, flipped it, and I saw Veronica's name on the screen. I hit the green answer button.
"Yeah, I got your message. New notebook? Pfft. Tell me something that I don't know!"
"Well you know how I love notebooks with cute covers! And this one has a doodle cover! Hey! I didn't judge you when you told me you like JB a couple of months ago!" It's true. I really love notebooks with cute covers. And in the bookshop I can go crazy. People call me a dork because of it. I can be in the bookshop longer than I can be in some fashion store. "So you're coming to school tomorrow, right?"
"Mmm-hmm. Wait someone's on the other line..." I took the new notebook and doodled on the first page. "I'm back, Farz. So what's up? And hey... I miss you. I mean... Not lesbo miss or anything, just best friend kind of miss," she said. With her voice lowered.
"Aww. Yeah, I miss you too. We haven't hanged out much these few days. But anyways, that's all going to change because next week, we're going to shop 'til we drop!" I winked, and then realizing I was just on the phone with her. I smiled to myself. "And why did you call?" I was confused, because usually I'm the one who calls. She's the one who calls when there's some new rumor that she wants to share with me.
"Nothing... I err, just wanted to hear your voice," she replied. I heard her giggling.
"Aww! That's so sweet of you, girl! Are you really the Ronnie I know?"
"Stop it! You know I don't like being called Ronnie!" she has some issues with her nicknames. She doesn't want to be called Vee, Veronique, Ronnie, Erica or anything else that people would usually nickname a Veronica. She's just... A different kind of Veronica. She hates it that she has to share her name with other millions of people around the world. "And of course I'm me!"
"Yeah, yeah. Glad that you're still the Victoria I know. Gtg, Veronica. Bye!" I sighed.
And just like that... The conversation ended. I ended it because I couldn't stand the awkwardness between us. I know we're drifting apart; you don't need to be a mad scientist to figure that out. But she's the only best friend I can hold on to, but I don't know for how long, because the chemistry isn't there anymore. When you break up with your boyfriend, it's normal. You can still get a new one. But when you "break up" with you best friend, it's a different thing.
