The new year of 1980 had approached faster than ever and most unexpected than ever. Though i suppose you don't notice much whilst you're pregnant. Except for the forever growing pain from below.

It was the 3rd of March and I was enjoying the spring sunshine, sitting in the backyard along with Lily, Marlene and Melanie. Where the boys were mucking around playing Quidditch between them all. Which i personally believe is quite unfair for Peter and Remus, it was more so a one on one between James and Sirius.

Marlene smiled excitedly before turning to each of us, "I have fabulous news!" She exclaimed.

Lily rose a eyebrow excitedly, "Well go on tell us then."

She held her left hand up and a shiny ring sat on her forth finger. This could only mean one thing. I smiled, "He proposed to you? When? How? Marls you have to give us the details now!" I said excitedly.

"Oh hush, hush of course I will. Well it was New year's eve and we were on a walk where we stopped off at a lake for a couple of minutes. Where I just happened to look away and that's when he got down on one knee and i turned around and there he was, then boom. He proposed to me and then i said yes."

Melanie seemingly looked like she was about to faint, "Marls in so excited for you." She then said smiling.

Our conversation was interrupted when Sirius walked towards us, "Now what are we talking about today lovely ladies." He said grinning. Once reaching us he gave Marlene a quick kiss on her cheek before pulling out a spare chair and sitting on it.

I rolled my eyes, "Well nothing that important Padfoot, just your engagement!" I exclaimed. His eyes widened and i chucked, "I'm quite offended I am, i've been one of your best friends since first year and you didn't even, you didn't even consider telling me. Honestly Sirius I'm wounded." I said dramatically, which resulted in each of us to erupt in loud laughter.

"Oi, what are you all laughing about over there?" Cried James.

Lily smiled, "Just laughing about your best mates engagement to Miss Marlene right here. Quite a story honestly James!" She cried back.

James nodded casually before dropping the broom in his hand and rushing over, "I must be deaf because did i just hear you two got engaged or am i-"

"No James you heard it correctly."

"I might just die Padfoot, you didn't even tell me. i'm-i'm so hurt you're wounded me honestly. My heart has just shattered into a million pieces before you." James cried dramatically, he began to fake wipe tears from his cheeks trying to hide his laughter.

Sirius rolled his eyes chucking, "Grow up mate it's not that deep. You are my best man you know that."

James smiled proudly, "Better be."

"Anyway Lils how are you and Severus?" Me asked.

The redhead smiled lightly, "All is well, his folks are a bit, well all that you know how it is. The whole stigma between dating a muggle born and a pure blood. Doesn't really result in the best. Though we did grow up together I suppose, same street and all." We all nodded before she spoke up once again, "Me how's you're girlfriend going."

"Ah yes that Muggle how is she?" By this time Peter and Remus had joined us also sitting on chairs as we all talked together.

"She's alright, bit of a nasty shock she got a couple nights ago when she realised i am a witch. Don't think she was prepared or expecting anything like that honestly."

"My my, i'm surprised she didn't go off telling anyone."

"She kind of, fainted so. I don't really think she would manage to tell anyone if she tried. Let alone remember, i'd love to get married with her honestly. Though that's very illegal you know how it is." We nodded in agreement a quick silence falling over us all.

Remus hopped up quickly, "I say, we celebrate."

This made most of us raise our eyebrow slightly towards him, "Celebrate why on earth would we be celebrating at the beginning of spring?" I asked.

"Well before you have the responsibility of a child, and Sirius and Marlenes marriage and what nort. One last night to bring free, you'll never know when anyone would die? You guys in."

"I'm in."

"I'm in," and so on.

"Brilliant.
