Appa and I had been flying for a while now, I believe 3 days in fact. He said he was taking me somewhere that would help me understand what happened to my parents and why I am here. I had cried most of the trip and my dreams were plagued with the horror and fear of the audience that saw me. I had pushed Zuko from my mind, believing he would never want to see me again. I mean who would, I almost killed a woman (even if she was a b!tch) in front of the entire nation.
Do not be hard on yourself, you were overtaken by anger. I grunted at Appa as I rolled on my back to look at the sky, dried tears staining my face.
You didn’t almost kill a woman in front of an entire nation. I am a monster. Fresh tears were beginning to form as recalled all the terrified screams and shouts.
You are not a monster. You have a power that you do not yet understand and cannot control. You will see when we arrive.
Where are we going anyway? It has been 3 days and all we have passed is water. He left me without an answer so I sighed. Great more silence now I can think more about the horrid event. Zuko crossed my mind again and I couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing. Was he looking for me or a new wife? I can’t imagine the troubles I have created for him. I never deserved to be FireQueen.
We are here. Appa’s landing woke me up from my usual nightmare. I sighed rubbing my eyes before sitting up in his saddle. Looking around I saw a rundown temple and trees that circled us. We were in a forest but the energy hear was powerful and I knew something was up. Appa roared and suddenly the ground began to shake.
Appa! What is going on? I held onto the saddle until appa shook me off. I landed with a thud on my butt. I recovered from the daze and glared at Appa, but before I could speak my mind in some colorful words a shadow casted over me. I turned around slowly to come face to face or well face to snout with a panda. I screamed and dashed back in surprise.
It is okay. Do not be afraid. Appa nudged me towards the bear with his wet nose. I nodded and calmed myself with some deep breaths before taking in the bear before me. When my mind cleared I realized who this was so I bowed.
“Hei Bai.” I remained bowed while the spirit approached me. I looked up when it came just a few feet from me. It bent down in front of me so I could place my hand on its forehead. When my fingertips came in contact with its fur I was immediately taken away to another place. I could see my body laying against Appa as I was now sitting on the back of Hei Bai. Great I was going somewhere else, but where? I was a spirit now so I had to be going somewhere in the spirit world but where? Why?
“Um Hei Bai? Can you understand me?” Silence ensued. Well I guess this is a spirit that doesn’t talk. I sighed and occupied myself by watching the scenery we passed. We entered the temple Appa and I had passed, but now it wasn’t rundown. It was clean and filled with sages doing who knows what. I could tell by the colors this was an Earth temple but why was I taken here? My thoughts were interrupted by cries for help. I looked to see a couple running towards the temple with a bundle in their arms. I got off Hei Bai to get a closer look. As I looked closely at the bundle of blankets in the woman’s arms I saw a glimpse of purple hair. I gasped and stumbled back.
“Are...Are these my parents? Why are they here?” Hei Bai left me unanswered once again, making me turn my attention back to the scene unfolding.
