The next morning, there is still no video. I don't know if I expected that video from Elena to fix everything, but I expected something to happen. All that trouble I went through, and he can't even say thank you for explaining things to Elena, or getting her to talk to him or anything. He's still ignoring me. There's nothing.

"I'm just getting off, and I was thinking about getting a sandwich from the deli. Have you eaten yet? Do you want anything?" Allison asks me in the last few minutes of work. She's leaning against the border of my cubicle. It's 1:26PM, according to my clock. I'll be leaving in four minutes.

"No, thank you, but I have to get home." I say.

"Oh, right," Allison replies, disappointment in her voice. I wish I could join her, but I can't. Duty calls; My schedule calls. John calls- theoretically, if he weren't ignoring me. "You have.. is it your dad that you take care of?" she asks. I finish putting all my papers into their appropriate files and putting them away. "Are you okay? You seem upset about something." She inches into the cubicle and leans against my desk.

"It's just my brother. He's kind of being an asshole right now," I roll my eyes, but it feels good to actually be able to talk about him out loud, without having to discuss everything else it includes.

"I totally understand. I have two sisters, one of them is four years old. We're all very close, but we can also get to each other's throats in seconds. We fight like cats and dogs."

"John," I tell the camera at home. "Where are you?"
