resting all alone, she waits
waits for the boy next door to come
to rescue her,
to save her
he knows she's broken, he knows how she falls most every night
still she waits
they were infatuated with each other once, maybe in another life, maybe just a few months before
she has lost track of the time, yet it passes
it passes
still she waits
he is in his room, trying not to cry
his parents, disappointed
his siblings, ashamed
but the girl
she's infatuated
he knows
her lungs burst every time she sees him, straight black hair all awry, her brain struggling to function
you see
her disorder
it limits her
and no
this is not some sappy love story about some erratic, deranged girl who is infatuated with a gorgeous boy and finds true love
in fact
its the opposite, he thinks shes weird
along with their whole town
it's more of a lucid dream
she fantasizes
he immortalizes
but still
shes in love
maybe if things were different
maybe
it would've worked out
but it didn't
and it won't
