"I'm her-e" I call through the door, waiting for a response. Immediately the door swings open and an excited Poppy is standing there waiting.
"Tellmetellmetellmetellme!" Poppy bounces from one foot to another, looking at me expectantly.
"Can I come in?" I ask, almost laughing at her excitement
"Yes, but come on and tell me!"
I slowly walk into the apartment, pretending to take it all in,even though I know the apartment off by heart, wanting to make Poppy wait that much longer. Sitting down on the couch, I turn to face Poppy, who is already sitting there waiting for me impatiently tapping her foot.
"So.." I begin slowly."My aunt Lou works for One Dir-"
"One Direction I know!" she says sharply
"And I told her how I was recently laid off, and she suggested that maybe I would want to come work for her... on the next... tour." I brace myself for screaming and in seconds I get it.
"Are you freaking serious?"
"Yeah, and thats not even the best part!" Poppy leans forward and leans her elbows on my knees.
"Tell me." her voice a harsh whisper
"Okay fine. I asked her if it would be okay if you came along too, so?"
"Um... Yes!" Poppy springs up from the couch and runs to her room.
"What are you doing?" I yell
"Packing!"
"The tour starts in a week"
"Oh." She emerges from her room, her smile still wide.
"So when do we get to meet them?"
"Them?"
"Uh, One Direction? Ever heard of them? Biggest boyband in the world maybe?"
"Okay okay fine, I'll text Lou now and ask her. But I am not being friendly to those assholes"
"Hey Lou, I asked my friend Poppy and she would love to and she wanted to know if we would get to meet the boys before the tour?"
"Sure sweetie, the boys and I are planning to go to a fair on Saturday, so maybe you and your friend Poppy can tag along, and then after you Paul, Poppy and I can sort out pay and contracts"
"Pay?"
"Yes sweetie you get paid. Got to go Lux needs to be put to bed and Tom is coming over in a bit xx"
"Okay, sorted. We'll go to the fair with Lou and the boys on Saturday and then sort out the contracts and pay."
"Yeah cool." Poppy is looking at her phone and seems disinterested
"What are you looking at?" I lean over to see her scrolling through pictures of them. One Direction. I decide to let myself out and drive home back to my crappy apartment. I pull out some cheese and broccoli, the only thing left in my fridge. I decide to melt the cheese over the broccoli, and change into some comfy clothes. I sit down in front of the TV and flick channels until I decide on a crappy reality show to fall asleep to.
