(Carolina's POV)
I woke to the warm feeling of the sun on my face. I yawned, feeling not as tired as I normally am, but content. Normally, I'm always upset in the mornings, but not today
My sister, Camron, and her 1 year old daughter, Nikki, went missing a few months back. The police have found no evidence on were either of them were, so both of them were presumed dead. It broke my heart finding out that. Camron's husband died in the war before Nikki was born, so she had been a single mother for a while. Then this happens to her, as if her life wasn't already a living hell. It made me sad, and I never really felt like getting up in the morning, until now.
I got up to make myself some coffee, not wanting to get changed yet. I then walked to the door, seeing if the mails came yet. Slipping on some slippers, I opened the door.
I looked down, and screamed.
At my feet was a baby in blankets. The baby had blond hair, and light skin. The child was sleeping, holding a stuffed, brown bear, with a top hat and blue eyes. The baby was smiling, as if their having a good dream. I picked up the child carefully, not wanting to wake them up, until a piece of paper fell to the ground.
I picked up the note, and read:
Dear Mrs. June,
I'm so sorry about your sister, and wish I could've done something to save her, but it was too late.
Luckily, I managed to save Nikki, but I never turned her in to the cops, like I was supposed to. My friends kept trying to convince me to turn her in, but I refused.
I was selfish.
When they found the address of another living relative, I didn't want to give her up, but I gave in.
Please take care of her, because someone really cares about her.
Signed, Her hero
I was in shock, and very pale. Not only am I holding my long lost niece in my arms, but questions filled my head. On question stood out the most:
Who saved her?
