I've had to keep my eyes closed until now. I could feel each time she applied something to my eyes and lips. I could also feel her doing who-knows-what with my hair.  Finally, I heard her voice chirp out, "Voila!"

My eyes cracked open and I gasped. My now forest green eyes were accentuated by the light and dark green eye shadow she applied along with the nicely done, thin layer of black eyeliner. She only applied a light pink colored lipstick that wasn't too little or too much. My naturally straight, blonde hair was now slightly curled and pushed to the right side, hanging over my shoulder. She gave me a small tiara with a tiny emerald gem to place on top.

I noticed that her crystal blue eyes were coated with a shade of a slightly deeper blue and also had a small amount of black eyeliner. Her naturally wavy, light brown hair was pinned up in a bun, only leaving a few strands falling out and framing her face.

We grinned at how each other looked.

"Now for the dresses!" she cried and pulled out two dresses from her walk-in closet.

I gasped when she handed my mine. It was a gorgeous strapless emerald green that was floor-length. The top was beaded with plain silver beads and scrunched around a sequin towards the side where my abdomen would be. It had the scrunched up look as it fell towards the ground. I quickly put it on and noticed it fit perfectly, accentuating my curves and completing my look. I felt like a princess. To add to that, she gave me a pair of pure white silk gloves that reached my elbow.

Shelly was already in her dress and she looked stunning to say the least. It was a beautiful, light blue gown that fell to the ground. Hers had straps and had a flower-like pattern that wrapped around under her bust area and from there the fabric cascaded simply to the ground. Simple, yet elegant. It hugged her waist perfectly, showing off her curves as well.

She gave me a pair of black heels that were probably 3-4 inches high to help allow the dress not to drag on the floor. I saw Shelly put on a pair of silver heels that made her dress drag only slightly. We hooked our arms together and headed out to her car.

As we got in, I felt suddenly very giddy.

"How am I supposed to know when to leave? What if I meet somebody there and get so caught up in them that I won't remember?" I asked her, starting to freak out.

She took my phone from the seat where I had it laying and began clicking away.

"You seem to have a really bad memory. I already dealt with that problem earlier, duh." She nudged me and showed me the alarm she had set for 30 minutes before midnight. I guess I did have a bad memory. Whoops. She took out her phone and showed me her alarm too. "This is so neither of us forgets. So we're good to go."

We took off to the Kapok Tree where it was being held. It only took 20 minutes to get there and once we did we were amazed. She opened up a compartment in her car and pulled out two masks. One was a simple emerald green with beads outlining it and the other was also a simple white but with light and dark blue beads surrounding it. We put them both on before getting out of her car. With my heightened hearing, I could hear the music playing from inside the building, or at least the beat of it.

The entrance was surrounded by a gate with vines covering it. Once we walked in, there was a garden with statues of naked women with carved cloths around them. On most of the statues, they had put on masks with feathers. The waterfall that was on the entrance wall was beautiful as it glowed under the setting sun. There was also a gazebo not too far away from the entrance into the ball that was also covered in vines but had concrete benches along the edges.

We looked around at all of the other people here. Most of the girls were in masks, very few weren't. Could you guess who? Yup! My step-sisters and their friends. They all had dresses that reached just below their butt and hugged their bodies a bit too tightly. We chose to ignore them the best we could, but we could feel their glares on us. I could sense that they couldn't tell who we were though.
