A walk from a gym to a lunch room should be safe but of course it wasn't.
"Millie Bobby Brown, Red, And Southside Scum. What a group." John said closing the gym door behind them.
"I've been wanting to get a good look at you all day." John said and looked Baylee up and down. Baylee set Millie in her chair.
"You'd be a hell a lot prettier without that half black eye." he stated.
"You gave it to me dipshit." Baylee said.
"What is a pretty girl like you hanging out with ugly fag Millie and ugly red haired freckles huh?" he said. Baylee slammed him into the wall.
"One, they are both prettier than me and two, she could get a girl quicker than you could and not because your fat it's because of you shitty personality you prick." Baylee said and let him go. She turned and began walking off.
"At least my dad isn't a serial killer." John said. Baylee turned around and socked him in the face so hard that he fell.
"Shut the fuck up. You weren't there and you don't know shit about what happened that night you dumb fuck." Baylee growled and walked off. Millie began wheeling after her but Sadie caught her.
"Sadie. Let me go." Millie said. Sadie did and Millie went after Baylee.
"Hey! Baylee slow down I can't keep up! Please!" Millie said and Baylee stopped. Millie caught up.
"Thanks-" Millie panted when Baylee turned around.
"Listen to me and listen good. I'm a Johnson I am a freak and I am dangerous so stay away from me for your own good." Baylee said.
"What? No I will not stay away from you." Millie said. Baylee stared harder at her.
"What you did today for me no one has ever done. No one has ever made me smile like that and incase you can't tell everyone is dealing with shit ok? Not just you so why don't you accept a friendship or two." Millie said. She went to spin around but Baylee caught her chair.
"Thanks Mills." Baylee said.
"No problem. Now. Roll me to the lunchroom!" Millie smiled and Baylee did too as she rolled her.
They met up with Sadie and sat at a booth. Baylee lifted Millie to the seat and in next to Sadie. Baylee slid in across from them with her tray.
"Alright Baylee right?" Sadie said.
"Yup." Baylee said.
"Oh Millie! Guess what?" Sadie said grinning like an idiot at her friend.
"What?" Millie smiled back.
"He asked me." Sadie said than put a hand on her mouth to keep from squealing.
"Oh my God! I told you he would!" Millie grinned and they hugged.
"What's going on now?" Baylee asked leaning forward on her elbows on the table.
"So there's a school dance coming up..." Millie grinned at Baylee.
"Nope. I'm out." Baylee said. Millie reached and held both of Baylee's hands in each of hers.
"Please! Come onnnn!" Millie laughed as Baylee stood her ground.
Months passed and as Millie and Baylee grew closer, Sadie and Millie grew more distant. Sadie typically would ditch her for her new boyfriend, Caleb. Millie tried to be happy for them but it was hard for her. But as the result she got to know Baylee a lot better and had grown a secret crush. The first time Millie's parents met her they weren't pleased but soon got over it as they saw how she made Millie smile and always put her first. One day Millie missed school.
Baylee texted and called her all day. No answer. The next day she found Millie.
"Mills where were you? You didn't answer your phone." Baylee said approaching the girl. She looked sick and fragile.
"Sorry. I just had a lot going on..." Millie said. Baylee crouched down in front of her and felt her head.
"Hm no fever. Your not lookin' so good." Baylee said.
"I had an appointment." Millie said.
Millie always acted funny after a doctors appointment but normally they were after school.
"Alright... alright well why don't we get to class. I'm sure functions of the human anatomy will get your mind off things." Baylee said. Millie laughed a little and Baylee began pushing her to class. Two days later, Millie was sitting on her bed bawling her eyes out.
