7 years after the epilogue of This.
"Finn, Jess, come on were going to be late," I heard mom's voice from the living room and I was still in my room trying to tie my converse.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," I shouted as I finished tying my left shoe and ran out of my room to where my mom was waiting by the door.
"Jess? We can't be late to daddy's last show," just as mom was talking, Jess came down the hall trying to put her headband on her head.
"Mommy, I can't do it by myself," Jess whined and handed it to Mom.
Mom quickly fixed Jess' hair and put the headband on her.
"Finn, did you get the poster?"
"Yeah, It's over here," I grabbed the poster we made for dad's band's last show laying on the coffee table.
We made it the night before and it had "we love you, dad" written on it in big letters with tally marks in the corner.
"Okay," Mom let out a big sigh, "let's go." She moved us outside to the car and put Jess in her car seat.
When we got to the place they were playing, there were so many people. It was kind of scary, I was afraid I would get lost.
"Stay close to mommy, I don't wan-"
"FINNY, THERE YOU ARE!" Ally came running up to me and tackled me into a hug.
"Hey, Ally, look we made a sign for daddy," I held up our masterpiece.
"We did too! Come look," she grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the dressing rooms.
Ally and I have been friends ever since I can remember. Mom and Dad say we were friends before we were even born but I don't know if that makes sense. We go to the same School and we live near each other, but every time I see her she acts like we haven't seen each other for a whole week. She gets really excited and hugs me and pulls me everywhere. I'm glad she's so happy to see me, but sometimes she hugs me really tight and I can't breathe.
We got to the rooms backstage and it wasn't as crowded anymore and Ally showed me her sign and told me that mine was better anyways. I disagreed.
We discussed how loud it was going to be during the concert, we go to my dad's concerts all the time and there's a lot of girls screaming and there's even some crying. It's weird.
Eventually Dad came in with Ashton, Cal, and Michael. They had a few minutes before they went to the stage.
"Hey, bud!" Dad gave me a high five and hugged Mom.
"Are you excited?" I asked him and he ruffled my long hair and crouched to my height.
"I'm so excited," he said then he smiled at me sadly, "I'm also kind of sad, because this is going to be my last concert for a while."
"Like forever?" I asked in surprise.
He stood up and patted my shoulder, "yeah maybe."
"Aw," I groaned, "why?"
He laughed and picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder, "so I can be with my buddies," he spun around and I squealed.
Mom sighed, "Luke, put him down you're going to hurt him again."
He stopped spinning and put me down and I was really dizzy, "oh, he's fine."
"You're on in 5 minutes, guys!" Someone called from the doorway.
"Oh we better get going, Calum stop flirting with my wife," Dad said and hugged Jess and I before walking out the door.
Ally came and stood beside me as they left the room.
During the concert we sang along and held up our signs and I saw dad smile at us and he held up a thumbs-up.
There were a lot of times during dad's concerts where I would look around and see people smiling and laughing. I knew it must feel good to make people happy. One time I asked dad why he sang and played guitar in front of people. He said he did it because he loves music and to make people happy.
I wanna be just like him, I want to make people happy.
At the end of the concert, dad talked about me, Jess, and Mom on stage. Then Ashton talked about Ally, Max, Callie and their Mom, Mrs. Natalie.
Mom started crying, which I didn't like, I didn't want Mom to cry. She told me she was crying because she was proud. I thought people cried when they were sad, but I guess not.
After, we went to eat at our house and all the grown ups talked. Me and Ally ate cookies and watched TV.
"You know, we've known each other for our whole lives," I said while I chewed on my chocolate chip cookie. It was true, Ally and I were both 8 and a half and we've known each other for a whole 8 and a half years.
Ally nodded her head, "yeah, that's what makes us best friends."
"Yeah," I paused for a second, "we'll always be best friends right?"
Ally laughed and pushed my shoulder lightly, "duh, it's like we can't not be best friends."
I rolled my eyes and pushed her back.
"We'll always be best friends, Finny. I promise." She held out her pinkie finger and smiled.
"Okay, promise," I wrapped my pinky finger around hers, and we promised we'd be best friends forever.

The next day Ally came over again with her Mom and Dad.
Our parents talked and Ally followed me outside and said she had to tell me something.
"Finn, we're moving far away, I don't know what to do," she plopped down on the swing hanging from the tree.
"What do you mean 'you're moving'?" I almost yelled. She can't move away, she said we'd be friends forever.
"Daddy and Mommy told me this morning that we were going to move since Daddy didn't play concerts anymore. Finn, what do I do? I don't want to move!" Ally's nose started to get red, it did that when she was about to cry.
I shook my head frantically and hugged her, "no I won't let you move, you have to stay. You need to stay with me."
Ally sniffled and pulled away from my hug to look me in the face. "I'm sorry, Finn. I don't know what to do."
I started to get upset as well and I stood up, stomping my foot. "You promised me, Ally. You said we'd be best friends forever. How are we going to be best friends if you don't live here anymore?"
The tears started to fall down her cheeks as she lowered her head.
I felt bad, I didn't mean to yell at her, "I mean, I guess we'll always be best friends. It's just hard." I sat back down next to her and we hugged again, Ally cried some more and I tried not to.
A week later Ally and her family moved to California, which is really far away. Mom and Dad knew I wasn't happy about it, I even begged to get them to stay. They told me they couldn't.
I felt really lonely, Ally my only friend in my class. I played with her at recess and say by her in lunch. Who would I play and sit with now?
But were still best friends, we're not going to break that promise.
Even though, I felt like she did.
