I looked at the clock...again. It was sixth period, I had lunch next. I just can't help myself! The sooner this period is over, the sooner I'll be with Dan; just me and him. None of his idiot friends or my stupid friends who think the sun starts shining when they wake up. I shook my head when I remembered the big fight they had over who the sun starts shining for. Ugh, only five more minutes and math would be over. Thank God. I started helplessly at the clock until it finally, finally, rang. I almost ran out of the classroom. I was one of the first ones to lunch - like always. I sat down and waited for Dan. Other people started sitting at the other half of the table. It was almost full when Dan arrived. My heart stopped. "Hey," he said. I smiled. "Hi." "What's up? How's your day been?" He asked taking his lunch out of his black backpack. "It's been okay, I guess. I told you the important stuff fourth period." "A lot can happen in two periods," He took a bit of his sandwich. "True," I laughed and picked up my sandwich. "Well, I don't know about you, but I can't wait until later." He said, running his fingers through his hair. "Me too! Just me and you." "MACK!" I turned around to see Vin and his friends. Vin laughed. "When are you guys going to date? Seriously..." Yeah, Dan, when? I thought. But oblivious to my deepest wishes, Dan just stood up. "Fuck off." "Make me," Vin said. I looked over at Dan, his clenched fists, his knuckles white. I gulped. This wasn't going to be pretty. I looked at Dan with pleading eyes. "I will." Then, Vin pushed Dan. But, before Dan could retaliate, a teacher came. "Boys! Stop. Don't make a scene. Break it up." Dan sat back down and glared at Vin. Vin glared back and then his group walked away along with the teacher. I sighed. "He's really not worth it." "No, Alice, I'm really just sick of this shit he gives us every day." "Don't let it get to you; he's just being an ass." Then, Dan looked at me right in the eyes. I couldn't breathe. "Alice, I care. I don't want people saying things like that to you. To me." "Dan, it's okay, I don't mind." I blushed. "I mean it's just not that big of a deal, right? Vin just likes to start shit. He knows how to annoy you." Dan looked down and sighed. "I guess so." I smiled and touched his shoulder. "Shake it off; don't let him ruin our lunch." He took a bite of his second sandwich and looked at me. I smiled and looked down, loving the way his eyes were all over me.

After the last period of the day, English, I practically ran to my locker. Dan was already at his, which is right next to mine. I sat on the floor, opened my locker, did what I had to do and then shut it. "Ready?" Dan asked shutting his locker. I nodded and we started walking to the buses. We found bus twenty five and got on. "I call inside!" Dan just smiled. Weird, usually he'll give me a light punch when I do things like this. "Well, I'm so happy it's finally Friday! I've been so tired this week." I said looking up at Dan. "I know right. I felt like it went by so slow." I bit my lip and shivered, hoping Dan wouldn't notice and make fun of me for not bringing a jacket in the middle of January. "Are you cold?" Crap. "N-n-no." Dan stood up and pulled his pullover over his head, taking his shirt with him. I just stared, my mouth half open. "Here," He said handing me his sweatshirt whilst fixing his shirt. "Are you sure?" I asked hesitant to take it. "Just put it on." I nodded and stood up, pulling the warm sweatshirt over my thin shirt. I sat back down and couldn't help but to sniff it. It smelled just like Dan, but ten times stronger. I put the hood on and sat there, my arm touching Dan's, snuggled up in his cozy sweatshirt. "Better?" Dan asked. "Much. I don't think you are ever getting this back." I giggled. Dan frowned. "But that's my favorite sweatshirt!" "Too bad!" I said pushing my hand into his chest. Before I could move my hand, Dan grabbed it. He put his fingers through mine and then brought our intertwined hands down on his leg. We didn't talk. We didn't move. We just sat there and looked out the window. What did this mean? Does he like me? Is he finally going to ask me out? My mind was racing. When it came to my bus stop, I let go of his hand even though I didn't want to. I just wanted to sit there like that. Forever. Dan let me walk in front of him. I was excited to be home, because then we'd be alone. In my excitement I started running down the steep stairs of my bus, but all of a sudden, I lost my balance. I fell down the stairs and there I was, face to face with the road. I tried to move, to sit up, but I couldn't. "Oh My God, is she okay? Should I call for help?" I heard my bus driver scream. "It's okay, I got it." Dan picked me up. Dan picked me up! I looked up at his brown eyes and then watched the bus drive away, everyone in it staring at me and Dan. "Dan, put me down, I'm fine." "Shush. You're bleeding; you are not fine." I looked at my hands, they're covered in blood. I groaned. My afternoon was so ruined. Dan took the key to my house out of my pocket and opened the door to my house. He took me upstairs, to my living room, and laid me down on the couch. He went to the bathroom and came back, literary, ten seconds later with a first aid kit. He cleaned and bandaged the cuts on my hands and then worked on the cut on my head. "Well, you don't need stitches." He grinned. I fought back tears. Everything hurt so much. Dan's face went serious. "Does it hurt that much? Do you want to go to the hospital?" "No." I hated how I could hear how weak my voice sounded. "I'm such an idiot." "No, don't say that, Alice. Everyone falls. No one's perfect." "You're perfect." I said shaking my head. "No. Alice, you're amazing. I love everything about you. I love how cool you are, how funny you are, how you laugh at anything and everything. I don't care how klutzy you are. You're perfect in my eyes." Dan said wiping away a tear on my cheek away with his thumb. "I love you, Dan." "Just then, he sat me up, grabbed my face, and kissed me. He broke it off and I looked at him. I kissed him again, despite my headache and aching body. This time I broke it off and I rested my head on his chest. He stroked my hair and we sat like that until I felt better.
