38. I'm Gay (Fluff)

"I can't believe you're my roommate." Keith huffs as sets down his last box as Lance is putting up his fairy lights. "Well deal with it mullet head, it's only going to be for a year." Lance smiles as he finishes putting up the lights, Keith sighs and looks at Lance's side of the room. He sees fairy lights, old rock and roll posters, and photos of his family. Keith feels self conscious about putting his things up, most photos he has are pictures of him and his brother at a pride parade with his adoptive parents. They're his only memory of his brother, since he went missing while on a mission. Keith is openly gay to everyone except his roommate, Lance, the one who he's had a crush on for almost a year now. To him, rooming with Lance is a dream come true. This year will be special to him and he won't allow it to go to waste.

Lance is questioning himself lately, even though he likes girls. He's been attracted to this guys in his class, his name is Jonas and since he thinks he hot, this makes his thoughts about himself change. Being gay or bisexual in his family is uncommon, if he were to find his true sexuality it might cause an uproar in his family. Which he's terrified of, he loves his family and he doesn't want to make them uncomfortable. Lance looks at Keith's side of the dorm and his eyes widen, it's so... Bland. "Dude, do you not have anything to put on the walls?" Keith goes the slightest pink and he turns to Lance, "Nah, I do have some Queen posters but that's about it." Keith searches for his roll of posters and smiles once he finds it. He throws it to Lance and he catches it, "Cool you like Queen?" Keith nods, he got into when his brother told him that Freddie Mercury was part of the LGBT community. He couldn't of been happier to listen to the music of the ultimate queen.

"Yeah, my brother got me into it." Keith scratches the back of his head and he puts his neatly folded clothes in the drawers under his bed, Lance takes notice of the neatness of all of Keith's things. "I didn't think you'd be a neat freak." Keith goes pink and he snatches his posters back, "I work at a retail store during the summer." Keith murmurs and Lance sits on his bed. "I know we're supposed to be rivals and all but do you want to try to get to know each other?" Lance asks hesitantly, Keith stops what he's doing and places his vinyl gently on his desk. "Um-Sure?" Keith says out of shock but doesn't bother turning to him. "Cool, well I'm off to go see who my crew is." Lance says quickly, he really wants to get out of that awkward situation.

Keith watches Lance leave the room and he goes bright red. 'He wants to get to know me?' Keith quickly takes out all the photos and hides them in the largest drawer and places his drawing pad on top of them and closes the drawer and he finishes putting his clothes and vinyls away. By time all his clothes are in his closet and drawers, Lance returns with his crew and Keith stands there awkwardly while putting the rest of his vinyls on his shelf and he puts his record player on the shelf where he left room for it and his speakers. His crew looks at Keith with surprise. Lance looks at Keith's side of the room with shock, it's very neat and nicely put together. Keith unrolls all his posters and puts them nicely on the wall and he feels their eyes on him. "I never seen those posters before." Lance comments and Keith smiles slightly. "That's because I designed them." Lance and his crew go wide eyed, they're at shock because of how talented Keith is. "Wow." The short one says, "I'm Keith." He holds out his hand and the short one takes it, "I'm Pidge." Keith slightly smiles and turns to the other person in the room. "Hunk, we've been in the same class for a year now." Keith goes red, "S-Sorry, I don't really pay attention." Hunk chuckles but shakes his head, "It's fine, it's nice to meet you." Keith nods and he notices his brother's ex in the doorway. "Adam?" Keith says and walks over to him, "You forgot this." Adam smiles and he pulls out a guitar case with a bow on it. "W-What?" Keith says and Adam smiles, "I noticed you kinda destroyed your other one so I bought you a new one." Keith kneels down and opens the case right then and there. "Wow, thank you." Keith smiles and looks down at the beautiful acoustic, it has abalone embedded around the sound hole. "No problem, so I'll see you in class tomorrow." Keith nods and stands up and gives him a hug. "See you."
