I open my eyes, adjusting to the light and I look over to see Richie, still asleep in our bed. His messy, raven curls scattered across the pillow but still framing his face perfectly. His long lashes blocking his dark mocha eyes. His freckles that cover his face like small constellations in a clear night sky. My eyes travel to his chest that's rising and falling in a steady beat. I memorize every detail of his presence as I take one last look at him, smiling, before I get up and walk out of the room.

I walk into the bathroom and start to get ready for the day. I decided to take the day off to spend with Richie. We haven't had a lot of time together since he got a promotion at the radio station. He has his own talk show every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning and afternoon. I work at the record shop Wednesday through Sunday so our schedules overlap almost everyday. We decided to get breakfast, go for a walk in the park, then go see a movie. We've been planning this for awhile so it should be a good day.

I finished getting ready and I walked back into the bedroom. Richie was putting one of his stupid hawaiian shirts over top of his white tee as he turned around to look at me. He smiled, coming over and pulling me into a hug, "Good morning Eddie Spaghetti," he said while kissing the top of my head.

"Good morning Chee," I said standing on my toes to kiss him on the cheek, "Almost ready to go?"

"Ya, I just feel like I'm forgetting something," he said as he walked into the dresser.

"Glasses?" I snickered as I picked them up from the bedside table.

"Shut up."

"You're not wearing your contacts?"

"Not today," he replied taking the glasses from me.

"I'm glad. You look cuter with your glasses on."

"Well if you had told me that sooner I would wear them more often," he said leaning down and kissing me on the nose.

We went to the coffee shop and when we finished eating, we started walking towards the park. I grabbed Richie's hand and he glanced down at my hand in his, "Even though it's been 5 years I still get butterflies every time I see that ring on your finger."

"And you think I don't?" I teasingly asked him.

He was about to respond but he got cut off by someone walking straight into him, "Watch where you're going asshole," the man scoffed.

"Fuck off dude," Richie spat back.

"Rich it's fine. Let's just go," I said pulling on his arm, trying to get away from the situation.

"Awe do you need your little boyfriend to protect you?" The man said mockingly.

"Rich come on let's leave," I said tugging on his arm harder as I could sense the situation getting worse.

"Husband, actually."

"Burn in hell you cock sucking fairies."

"I know you'd love to taste mine," Richie winked but I could tell he was pissed off.

The man stepped forwards as he pulled out a sharp metal object from his coat pocket. The world slowed as the man stepped towards Richie with his blade in hand. I was paralyzed as I watched the knife enter his abdomen. I wanted to help, but I couldn't. I was frozen, stuck to the cement as Richie was being stabbed 2 feet in front of me. The man started twisting the knife and Richie let out this horrific scream that sent shivers up my spine. He fell to his hands and knees as the man pulled the knife out. His white shirt was quickly staining red. The man then kicked Richie in the side of the head and his glasses fell to the ground, the glass shattering everywhere. The adrenaline kicked in and time started speeding up. I ran over to Richie, who was now on his back and tried putting pressure on the wound.
