"You think you can get me that easily, huh." I said coming closer to the hunter with a smirk on my face. Taking a step forward he said, "Well hun, you don't seem so hard to catch" and with that I yanked the sword from my side and cut right through him

I am a Demon. I am evil. The good is for the weak, I like power. I like to see people in pain; it's in my nature. Sadly, the master assigned me a task to stay in a so-called building in the normal life called high school. To be honest, when I got my task from the master, I was excited, but then I ended up here, to keep an eye out for the normals and more importantly, the hunters who want to kill my kind.

I hate everyone here and I don't associate myself with the normals or anyone around me. Except Nicola. She's a Demon as well; she's my best friend and my partner for this task but she's okay with the normal around her. I really don't understand why, she's always been the nice one. Yet, she's just as bad as me.

Walking into my science class, i take my seat at the very far back of the class. "Good Morning class" my teacher Miss Anara said. "Mo-orning, Miss Anara" my whole class replied. God I hate normals, they're so weird. "So today is a very different say, yet, very special. I would like you all to welcome Shawn, our new student". As soon as Shawn walked into the room, I was speechless. Not because of his looks, but because no one ever joins Junior High. This is the first time a new student came to this school since Nicola and I 2 years ago. Shawn walked up to the front of the class and spoke "Hey, my name's Shawn and I'm happy to be here". "Alright Shawn, nice to meet you. I'm Miss Anara and your seat will be right in the back with Selena" Miss Anara pointed in my direction. Wait. What? No way. There's no way i'm sitting beside a normal. In all my other classes I have Nicola to sit with. "Uh... Miss Anara, you know I like sitting alone. I'm sorry but I really don't want to sit beside him." As soon as I said that, Shawn's smile on his face went away and he looked upset. "Excuse me Selena Santaria, how disrespectful of you. You will sit beside Shawn and that is final. You two will be lab partners for the rest of the semester." Shawn came towards me and I felt sick. As soon as Shawn sat down, he turned to me and said "Hi, I'm Shawn Mendes." I squinted my eyes at him and ignored him. He looked hurt and mumbled something I couldn't make out. He turned again and whispered, "Listen, i know you don't want me sitting beside you, trust me I feel the same way. I mean you aren't the welcoming type but I really don't have friends here and I just need some assistance." I turned to him and said no while shaking my head. Gosh, normals can be so desperate. For the remainder of the class Shawn didn't talk to me and when class finally ends, he opens his mouth to say something but then quickly closed it and went out the door.

At lunch I met up with Nicola. "Gosh Selena, you can be so difficult at times" she said

"Pfft, sorry I prefer slicing all these normals heads off rather than being sympathetic to them"

"Just give them a chance Selena"

"No" I stabbed my beans

"Listen, Selena. I know what they did to your parents. I get it, You jus-"

"No! You don't get it Nicola, you never will" I grabbed my diamond necklace hanging on my neck that belonged to my mother.

"I'm sorry"

"I am too"

After a long pause she spoke up, "Hey, have you heard about the new guy? Shawn? It's crazy, no one ever comes here"

"Ugh, yes. He's my lab partner in science class. God I hate normals, he tried to start conversation" Nicola gave me a look

"He's actually very nice, I was talking to him in the halls. So since he's new I thought i'd invite him for lunch" I choked on my beans. "Nicola! What were you thinking?! I hat-". Before i could finish my sentence, Nicola yelled "Shawn, over here". She stood up while waving her arms. He smiled and sat beside Nicola. His body stiffened when he saw me. I smirked. When people fear me I feel powerful, it's what the master wants. It's what I want.

"Hey Nicola" Shawn said

"Hey Shawn" Nicola replied and nodded her head in my direction "you already know Selena"

Shawn hesitated "Yea..." He looked down and back up to me "Hi Selena..."

I looked up at him, rolled my eyes and continued eating my beans. Nicola noticed and spoke up, "Don't mind her, she's under a lot of stress..... you know... it's kinda the time of the month." I was just as shocked as Shawn was at the moment. Oh my gosh, i will kill her one day. Shawns eyes widened and the look of relief and understanding appeared on his face. "Ooooh right, right. My bad." Shawn said. I offered him a sarcastic smile and he looked me in the eyes. I noticed something about them. Something about his eyes seem oddly familiar.
