When they woke up the next morning, the first morning in their new house wasn't as special as they thought it would be. It ended up being uncomfortable and quiet. Olivia made breakfast as usual, and Elliot ate it as usual, but neither of them talked at all.
Olivia was taking the day off to finish putting everything away, so Elliot got ready and headed to work. He stood in the living room and fixed his collar as he watched his girlfriend scrubbing one of the frying pans.
"Want me to bring you something home for dinner?" Elliot asked, as Olivia sat the pan down and pushed a piece of hair off her forehead with the back of her hand.
"No, it's fine. I'll make myself dinner if you are working late." Olivia breathed. Elliot nodded slowly because his girlfriend didn't even look at him.
"Okay then. I'm gonna go then. I love you... gonna come over here and kiss me?" Elliot mused.
"I'm busy, El. Go to work."
"Yeah. Of course, you are busy." Elliot huffed. He had expected for Olivia to start yelling at him, but instead, she just went back to doing the dishes without even another word escaping her lips.

Olivia sat in the empty bedroom and she pulled out her phone and dialed Avery's parents' number. She waited for several long moments before hearing the voicemail pop up. Olivia listened for a moment before speaking.
"Hey, uh, it's Olivia... I'm sorry, but Elliot and I can't come out and watch Avery now. We are too busy with work and moving into the house that we can't find the time. I'm so sorry, and I really wanted to meet Avery... but it'll just have to happen at a later date. Maybe when she's old enough to decide if I'm a monster or another mom... I'm so sorry... and now I'm rambling. Bye."
Olivia was in tears as she ended the call. She dropped her phone onto the floor in front of her before laying back against the soft gray carpet. She was wondering how expensive it would be to get another mattress and move it in here so she had a place to sleep. She wishes that she hadn't signed the agreement because then if she left she would be in trouble. She also wishes that she hadn't run away with Elliot. Then she wouldn't have anyone else to think about but herself.
She could hear her phone ringing, but she didn't pick it up. She didn't want to hear Avery's parents tell her that it was no big deal. To apologize to her for not being able to come out, when she was the one that fucked up their plans. The call went to her voicemail, but then her phone rang again. She sat up and looked at it and saw Elliot's phone number. She knew that he wasn't on break so she grew worried.
"Hello?" Olivia asked as she answered her phone.
"Olivia, it's Dustin from the Deli. Elliot got cut and they had to take him to the hospital. I went with him, and he told me to call you."
"Is he gonna be okay?" Olivia questioned, as she stood up and quickly ran down the hall and to the other bedroom. She started to get changed as Dustin explained.
"He has a pretty nasty cut on his hand. But they are taking care of him. He's at Denver General and I can wait outside the ER if you want me to." Dustin replied.
"Yeah. Please. I have to catch a bus there, but I'll be there as soon as possible." Olivia replied as tears welled in her eyes.
"I'll tell him when I see him."

Olivia got to the hospital an hour after Dustin called and told her about what was happening. She quickly ran from the bus stop to the ER before finding Dustin waiting outside.
"Did you see him yet?" Olivia asked.
"I did. His hand is numb... they think that some of the nerves got messed up."
"Oh no," Olivia whispered.
"Here's his phone and the keys to your car. I have to head back to work and tell the general manager about this all." Dustin spoke before he walked past Olivia. Olivia quickly walked into the ER and asked for her boyfriend. It took a few minutes and a lot of begging before a nurse led Olivia back to where Elliot was sitting.
"El." Olivia breathed, and Elliot looked up and saw her.
"Hey... what are you doing here?" He asked, as she took her purse off and sat it at the foot of his bed before sinking down beside him.
"Dustin called me. What the hell happened, babe?" Olivia asked.
"I was holding a knife and I sneezed and it kinda cut almost all the way through my hand... thankfully I'm on my mother's insurance and it is going to pay for most of this. Don't worry." Elliot spoke, but he didn't try and hold Olivia's hand or touch her at all.
"I'm sorry, Elliot. I'll go wait in the waiting room. Once you are released then I'll take you home."
"I might not get feeling back in my hand, Liv. They said they have to do a surgery on it to try and repair the nerves but they can't do that for a week... so I have a week of not being able to feel my fucking hand." Elliot spat.
"You can yell at me all you want, asshole... but it won't change the fact that you hurt yourself and need my help." Olivia spat back.
"Really? Because between being distracted with you completely ignoring me this morning and thinking I'm getting a cold caused this. This... this large wound in my hand is your fucking fault!" Elliot growled.
"I think we should break up, Elliot. I think that we should ignore the fact that we used to be in love and just go our separate ways. You can keep the house and I'll see if I can rent the trailer again. This isn't working out anymore." Olivia spoke before she stood and got into her purse and grabbed Elliot's phone and the car keys.
"What?" Elliot asked, his eyes wide with confusion.
"I know you feel it too, El. We aren't meant to be. Maybe at first, we were, but now we are far from being meant to be." Olivia breathed. She sat his items on his lap before turning and walking out as tears streamed down her cheeks.
