"Is it because I'm too preppy?" Aston winced at the sound of Katy's voice. Katy Rivera was the most popular girl in school for all the right reasons. She was kind, she gave, she was smart and brave. And Aston hated her with a passion.
He didn't know why. There wasn't any specific reason. What wasn't there to like about Katy? She was amazing, In every way possible. But Aston just couldn't stand her. Now here she was in front of him with a low cut top and extremely short skirt. Completely un-Katy like, asking if he hated her because she was too preppy. And all he wanted to do was scream.
He wanted to yank her blonde extensions out. Run away to any place in the universe where Katy doesn't exist. Send her on a space shuttle off to space somewhere. Her presence was hurting him, her life force was slowly draining away his.
"Katherine. I assure you my hatred has absolutely nothing to do with the level of your preppy ness." He said trying to look in any other direction then at her. She already made him uncomfortable. Her almost exposed chest was not helping either.
"Then what is it! Why do you despise me. What have I done?" She asks in a pleading tone. Katy was not use to people not fawning over her. She was the most liked girl in school, everyone was her friend. And the fact that Aston didn't like her made her uneasy, and the fact that he had no good reason not to, made it worst. She had to get him to like her. She couldn't live a happy life if he didn't. She was Charismatic Katy, and future prom queen.
It wasn't even the fact that he didn't like her. Katherine knew that there had to be more people out in the world who were not completely in love with her. But those people didn't like her and were quiet about it, kept it to theirselves . The fact that Aston was so open about it killed her. He didn't care if she knew, but she cared. She even dressed more like his people today to try to get his attention and change his mind. Katy was use to more polo shirts at tennis skirts. But today she was wearing a chest bearing crop top with biker boots and a leather skirt. This was how his clique dressed. Rocker chic, this is what he liked. He was in a band, he was about the hardcore rock and roll life. And Katy thought dressing like this would appeal to him.
So what if it made her feel exposed and her legs felt like they were chaffing, this is how she planned to get Aston's attention. She even went as far as leaving her bed head as it is.
"You haven't done anything. I know for a fact your a really nice girl. And that's good and all. But I just don't like you. It's just something about you that puts me off okay. Now if you don't mind can you please leave my lunch table. I can't eat with you around. You make my stomach upset." Aston says, still averting his eyes from anywhere near her, he could feel his breakfast coming up as he spoke.
Katy gaped at him, what was this guys problem. She was pulling out all the stops to get him to like her, and he didn't even budge. If anything he just started to hate her more. Katy furrowed her brows at him.
"You know what, whatever. I don't even care anymore." She marched off away from his table towards hers. She didn't believe it, she couldn't believe it. She tried so hard. What was she doing wrong? She reached her table almost in a fit of tears and sat down aggressively trying to keep her legs closed despite the chaffing pains.
She sulked and threw her body next to Sebastian who gently tapped her head as she rested it on his shoulders. Sebastian was Katy's ex-boyfriend or current boyfriend depends on who you ask. They were always breaking up and getting back together. It was like they were dating but without any of the dating benefits. Katy was okay with it, but sometimes she could tell it hurt Sebastian. He never broke up with her she was always the one to break up with him. He loved her a lot so when they weren't together he quietly waited by her side, waiting for them to get back together again.
It wasn't for any specific reason that she broke up with him. Sometimes she could just feel she needed more, something Sebastian couldn't provide."Bash, is there something wrong with me that I'm unknown too. Do I stink or something and no one tells me." She says wrapping her arms around his waist and burying her head more into his neck.
"No. Of course not, your perfect. That Aston kid just has some major issues, I don't know why you keep trying to get him to like you. He's not worth it." He said glaring over at Aston's table.
Katy knew what Sebastian was saying was true. But she couldn't help it. She couldn't deal with not being liked, she had been liked her whole life by everyone. For years she was on top. She was elected for almost every school presidential election, winning three years in a row. She won her towns Ms.Teen universe pageant every year since she was 13. And she was going to be prom queen, on her life she was going to be prom queen. And she needed every vote. She needed Aston and his friends vote.
"I'm losing my charm." She said moving her head away from Bash's neck. "I'm becoming my mother." She cried burying her face in her hands.
Her best friend Kioko chuckled from across the table. Kioko never understood what was Katy's issue with being liked. Kioko's mom's side of the family came from Korea where love was rarely ever shown. She was use to not being liked, it was natural for her. That was why no one in the school understood why she was best friends with Katy. They were polar opposites. Katy was preserved, always happy, always trying to make new friends. While Kioko was wild, free-spirited and was content with the friends she had, she didn't try to meet new people. She didn't like anyone besides who she knew already.
Which was hard because she was extremely beautiful. Boys and girls alike could not help but stare at her when she walked into the room. Her long flowing dark hair, green eyes which she inherited from her father's Danish side of the family always attracted attention. Not to mention she's been wearing a D cup since 8th grade.
"Kay, You're not anything like your mother okay. One person not liking you is not the end of the world. Aston Marks is a asshole, a huge one. He thinks just because he's in a rock band and can smash Heineken bottles over his head he's better than everyone else. Well truth is he's not. So stop giving him so much attention your just making things worst." She said fully knowing Katy was not listening.
Katy removed her hands from her face to look at Kioko.
"Not everyone can be as coldhearted as you Key. It's not my fault that I'm so emotional."
Kioko rolled her eyes. Katy was always so over dramatic it was like being best friends with Liza Minelli.
"It's okay though. I'm not giving up, just wait before senior year is over Aston Marks will be in love with me."
Sebastian let out a sound between a cry and a grunt.
"He's gonna what?" He asks still making the weird noise"He's gonna be in love with me." Katy says again more sure of herself.
"He's gonna be madly in love with me. And then I'll have his vote for sure."
Katy wasn't really sure what she was saying. Or how she planned to achieve it. But what she did know was that the only way to get Aston, was to make Aston hers. She had a sinister plan turning in her head. And soon it was all going to start coming together.
