Disclaimer: I haven't seen past this episode so I actually have no idea what actually happens. Also Sam isn't connected to anything supernatural and her and ruby live normal lives in National City, Maggie and Alex are still together and the group are friends with Veronica and turn a blind eye to her bank robberies.
The plane suddenly snapped in half and I grabbed each end. In one was the chemicals and the other held one of the most important people in my life... Lena Luthor. Her screams stuck in my head. The weight of the whole plane was too much, I couldn't carry it all.
"I can't carry both!" I screamed down to Lena
"Save the Chemicals! Not me!" She screamed back.
"No! I'm not going to drop you!"
The plane was falling faster and if I didn't act fast it would all sink poisoning anyone that used the water.
"Let me go!"
"No!"
I tried my hardest to pull it back in the air but I couldn't, I wasn't strong enough. I wasn't going to drop her though. Even if I loved my town and even if it was my duty to protect it, I would always put Lena first, No matter what. I looked down and saw the city lights below me. All those people. I knew it was selfish and wrong but I would risk them all, For her. Either way I had to act fast. We neared the water faster and faster with each passing second. An idea came to mind.
"Climb Lena! Climb!" I screamed. If she climbed I could grab her and drop the section of the plane she was in. I saw the fear in her eyes but she nodded and started to climb. I knew she was doubting herself.
"You can do it! Come on! Climb!" I reassured her. She started to climb faster. "You have to jump!" I called out!
"Now!" We had nearly hit the river. She pulled herself up and jumped. I dropped the end of the plane and reached for her hand. I grabbed onto her and she clung to me for dear life I flew up and away from the water below. A minute longer and it would have been to late.
—— time skip ——-
Lena had gone somewhere and I headed to see the man behind it all. Edge. After arguing I gave up and walked away. I flew to cat co and changed into my Kara clothes. I knew Lena would come here eventually and I had to see her. I couldn't get the image of her when she first found out about the kids out my mind. She was devastated. She acted tough but underneath that hard layer she was just a girl with a horrible past with a family that had caused her more pain than anyone should ever experience that wanted to do some good in the world. She walked in and smiled when she saw me.
"Kara." She said sadly
"Hey. I heard what happened. Supergirl was with me when she heard."
"I'm just glad she was there. You know, she reminds me a lot of you."
"D-does she?"
"Yeah. She was prepared to risk the town for me. She saved my life. More times than once. Like you."
"Me? I've done nothing."
"That's not true. You've pulled me out some of my darkest times."
"How are you? And don't give me that I'm fine crap. I know when you're not okay. I'm not stupid."
"My back kills a bit. I fell onto sand bags. And my arms from climbing. Truthfully I'm scared."
"It's all going to be okay. Why don't you stay at my place tonight."
"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to invade."
"You're not invading Lena. I would be happy to have you there."
We drove to my place and ordered pizza and potstickers.
"So are you Irish?"
She looked at me surprised.
"Sorry. I mean I just wondered."
"It's fine. But yeah. My mum was Irish and I spent the first four years of my life living there. I used to persuade my father to take me on trips there."
"Can you say something to me in Irish?" I sent next to her on the sofa, crossed my legs and turned to I was facing her. She did the same.
"is tú mo sholas na gréine"
"What does it mean?"
"You're my sunshine."
I felt the blood rush to my cheeks and she smiled.
"Did I ever tell you how much I love your accent."
"I don't believe you have."
I laughed and she smiled. It soon faded and her eyes filled with tears.
"Hey, Lena. What's wrong?"
"It wasn't me. I didn't hurt those kids. I did something good."
"I knew it wasn't you. All you do is good Lena."
"Well not all I do but I try."
"Semper spem"
"What?"
"It's Latin for I always had hope."
She smiled and we heard a knock on the door.
"Food!" I yelled and Lena laughed.
I payed the fee and went and sat on the sofa. We laughed, joked and watched some movies.
"You know Kara I don't mind taking the couch."
"You will not take the couch Lena Luthor I will."
"Why don't we both sleep in the bed?"
The minute she mentioned it the blood flooded to my face.
"Sure."
I got changed into some pajamas and Lena borrowed my things to also get changed. I crawled in the bed and smiled when I felt the dip next to me. I turned to face her and could see the tears in her eyes glistening in the moonlight.
"Lena, talk to me." I whispered softly.
"It's just. That woman. If she had shot me I would be dead for something I didn't do. People hate me. They've already decide I'm like my family. Nothing will ever change their mind."
"They don't know the real you. I do. I know you don't have one bad bone in your body and it will take time but they will come to see that too. I know they will."
She smiled.
"I do have a favor." I said sheepishly.
"Anything."
"Say something to me in Irish? It's comforting."
Lena pulled me close to her and started to sing softly.
"Chuala mé go raibh corda rúnda ann
Go ndeachaigh agus go raibh David sásta leis an Tiarna
Ach ní thugann tú aire do cheol i ndáiríre, an bhfuil tú?
Bhuel, tá sé mar seo
An ceathrú ceann, an cúigiú ceann, an titim bheag, an t-ardaitheoir mór
Is é an rí bactha a chumann Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Bhuel, bhí do chreideamh láidir ach bhí cruthúnas de dhíth ort
Chonaic tú a snámha ar an díon
Bhí a áilleacht agus solas na gealaí tar éis cur isteach ar ya
Cheangail sí tú le cathaoir na cistine
Bhris sí do ríchathaoir agus ghearr sí do chuid gruaige
Agus ó do liopaí, tharraing sí an Hallalajah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Leanbh Bhuel, tá mé anseo cheana
Chonaic mé an seomra seo agus shiúil mé an t-urlár seo
B'éigean dom cónaí ina n-aonar sula raibh a fhios agam ya
Agus chonaic mé do bhratach ar an áirse marmair
Agus ní mórshiúl bua é an grá
Tá sé fuar agus Hallelujah briste atá ann
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Bhuel, b'fhéidir go bhfuil Dia thuas
Ach go léir a d'fhoghlaim mé riamh ó ghrá
An raibh an dóigh le duine éigin a tharraing amach a tharraing amach
Agus ní caoin a chloiseann tú san oíche
Ní duine a chonaic an solas é
Tá sé fuar agus Hallelujah briste atá ann
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah"
"Lena, that was incredible," I whispered.
"Hallelujah. It took me ages to learn it in Irish. But I wanted to as my real mother used to sing it to me to help me sleep."
"Maybe you could tell me about her sometime? She sounds incredible."
"One day. I don't what to pry but you never seem to talk about your family." She said softly.
"They all died. My mum, dad, aunt. I moved away after."
"I'm sorry Kara."
"It's okay." I felt the tears rising. I really missed them sometimes. Maybe my parents weren't the people I thought they were but they were still my parents. Lena noticed my sadness and gently drew pattens on my back to help soothe me and within moments I was fast asleep cuddled into the girl I would trust with my life.
